Anonymous, 21 Sep 2020Free speech is not the same as hate speech and lies.Who gets to decide where the line is? You? Who gets to quantify what is "hate"? These days saying biological sex is real is considered hate speech
"Hate speech" is included in free speech.
The only exception would be threats/calls to violence, that's when it goes beyond mere speech as you threatening someone with violence

Commercial purposes. LMAO. Even if the data is used for commercial purposes, they still have your data which they can use for other things. What political purposes does Tiktok and WeChat serve? Name me one. People in China don't even use Tiktok, they use a seperate app called Douyin. Plus what pro-CCP propaganda can they push to people outside of China? Show an ad about how great Xi Jinping is whenever you open Tiktok? If that's the case, I guess Tiktok have already turned millions of Americans into Communists.

Also, the situation with China and Google, America and Tiktok is different. China gave a CHOICE to Google to censor its search in accordance to the official law (whether the company likes it or not) or leave the country. Google WILLINGLY chose to left China. Trump literally tried to FORCE Tiktok to be sold to a US company, or get banned for PRIVACY reasons, without any other explaination, and Tiktok def did not choose to leave US.

Also the WeChat ban is Trump punching American companies in their face. Most Americans use apps like WhatsApp in their daily lives in America and rarely use WeChat (unless they have friends or relatives in China), but US companies that operates in China uses it. People in China will rather get an Android than an iPhone without WeChat (95% out of 74k+ surveyed), and China makes up close to 25% of Apple's iPhone sales. The ban is only going to hurt American companies and there is nothing to do with privacy at all.

What i say is bs is the banning of selling and buying to other chinese companies like huawei and zte due to "security concerns" which we all know is also connected to the app bans they've been doing.

If this judge is so concerned about free speech maybe they could stop Twitter, Facebook etc from de-platforming people who don't confirm to the prescribed Leftist view.

People having their accounts removed is a bigger attack on free speech than reducing the number of social media platforms

Wechat amd TikTok has no problem... moreThe problem is that info collected by facebook, whatsapp etc are used for commercial purposes, but it is almost certain that data collected by chinese companies is used for political purpose and their apps are used push forward pro-ccp propoganda. Also there should be an international treaty of some sorts whereby if a nation blocks ofher social media networks, then its apps too should face some consequence. As of now, google, twitter etc are all banned in China. Democracies must not be fooled into thinking that it is just a matter of free speech, and even if they believe so, then it must be reciprocated by the country that holds the strings behind these social media apps
