Anonymous, 23 Sep 2020Well OnePlus 8 pro is giving 3cm minimum distance for Macro... moreI don't know where you got this number but I think it is wrong.
This source announce 4Cm for the OnePlus 8 macro focus distance :
https://www.androidcentral.com/how-use-macro-camera-oneplus-8
Macro + ultrawide combo have a much higher focus distance, so it can't be 3Cm, and the image showing the keyboard clearly demonstrate that its minimum focus distance is surely over 5Cm, which for a Macro is really far away.
Real macro are taken really close, even with a zoom :
https://cdn.lynda.com/course/111232/111232-637286143201781958-16x9.jpg
Here is some great explanations :
https://blog.sigmaphoto.com/2013/macro-photography-working-distances-by-robert-otoole/
As he said, minimum and working focus distance are different, but keep in mind that with his cute 14mm f/2.2, the OnePlus 8 Pro ultrawide is really far from the 105mm 150mm and 180mm f/2.8 macro lenses he demonstrate, meaning that even if it was 3cm, it would be quite Meh! for a Macro, and it would be the minimum, not the working distance, but it have over 5cm minimum focus distance, which is quite bad for a 14mm f/2.2 macro.
Edit :
Here is a good image showing and making it quite obvious how a super short focal length like the one in the Ultrawide would make it quite inadequate for a macro and how it would require a way closer minimum focus distance compared to a dedicated macro :
http://www.zen20934.zen.co.uk/photography/images/macro_perspective_drawing.jpg
Ultrawide are the antichrists of Macro, if anything, having a deep (and super close) focus control over the telephoto and using it to with two sub-presets for portrait and macro (on top of regular telephoto far focus point) would be way more logic than using the Ultrawide.

iOS Never Again, 23 Sep 2020Why do you need macro camera? Ultrawide can serve as macro ... moreI can't count the number of times that I had to take pictures of tiny things, either wanted to make an artistic picture or simply to see better something really tiny.
Well, that's where you probably either don't know what is really a macro and think that a "close up = macro" or that you don't know the difference between the ultrawide + macro and stand alone macro.
The main goal of a macro is to take an extremely close picture with basically the object appearing in the picture bigger than in real life while being close and showing tiny details.
An ultrawide is literally the opposite of a macro, and all ultrawide + macro combo have a way further minimum focus point than a dedicated macro.
Indeed, the higher resolution of the ultrawide make the macro appear way better as seen in this image comparing the OnePlus 8 macro and OnePlus 8 Pro ultrawide + macro combo :
https://i.gadgets360cdn.com/large/oneplus_8_pro_camera_macro_1591959615233.jpg
But those are barely real macro, real macro are way closer, and here is a really great demonstration of the massive difference between the two :
https://www.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/macro.jpg
Here you can see the huge focus distance difference.
This is NOT a macro :
https://ak.picdn.net/shutterstock/videos/12497807/thumb/1.jpg
This is a simple close up.
This is barely a macro :
https://jooinn.com/images/closeup-of-flowers-1.jpg
By definition it is one, but most photographs will consider this more like a close up than a macro.
A real macro, unlike what peoples thing when taking over 10cm away, is in reality much like one or two cm (without zoom), like this :
https://electrodealpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/h12_800x597.jpg
https://electrodealpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/h13_800x598.jpg
Note that I choose pictures from a smartphones.
The Poco F2 Pro may have the best Macro camera of any phone, but it is far from what a real camera is able to do, a popular example of a true macro would be this :

Find X2 pro has same display without those problems.
And those issues are at very low levels of brightness, levels at which most people don't use their phones.
Personally, there is no tinting issue on my OP8 pro.
G-S-M-Arena also confirmed it to be the most color accurate along with DisplayMate which is like God tier level when it comes to analyzing displays.

Anyone using anything above class 10 should be fine.
Besides the SD card is used for storage, the OS still runs from the fast internal storage.

... moreThe SD slot just slows the phone's performance down. OnePlus (and many other brands) are not interested in a worse experience for the user. UFS is the way forward, with large internal memory.
The 3.5mm jack is a different story. If you can't get a dongle or upgrade your headphones, that's on you.

Copy iPhone.. Only way to success.
Flat display, No Jack, No SD slots, Notch or punch holes, non removable batteries, no rubbish gimmicks like fm radio, ir blaster or flex curve screens.
Some value add is needed, like 120hz display, flagship cpu,
Failure to do so, your phone will have little to no sales. Pete knows that, so he will do that, and charge a premium for it.. he knows he can get away with it with the 8T

even m51 ha... moreConsidering that 12Mp smartphone camera sensor aren't much more expensive than 5Mp or 2Mp and that what make a smartphone camera a wide, ultrawide, telephoto, macro or portrait is only the lenses, that's true, they could have just put a 12Mp sensor, and a 12Mp depth is easily achievable depending on its type, for this price, indeed they could have done that for almost no change do the device price.
The OnePlus 8T have a better ultrawide though, the wider the field of view, the lower the number of pixels per degrees you'll get for similar resolution, but yeah, two 5Mp camera on the M51 vs one 5Mp and one 2Mp on the OnePlus with such price difference is ridiculous.

Their forums are filled with buyers complaining extensively about purple/green/blue tint display issues in 8 & 8 Pro. Is that what OnePlus means when they say accurate display ?
