So they ditched zoom for ultrawide? Why not both? I guess Google doesn't even care about delivering the good phone camera to the market now.

Finally a solid and balanced phone with a reasonable performance and battery.
          Good Job Google!
Looks like they have made a couple of good decisions in 2020.
Perfect screen size, not small not like a tab either.
Perfect battery, not a 'monster' not a 2k range one either.
Not a flagship beast but not a weak one either.
Finally, you will not lose a kidney for buying this device.

          Kudos!

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2020Should be: Pixel 5 - 5.8" 1080p HDR 90Hz oled ... moreInteresting lineup. The Turbo seems even better. The camera setup suggests that Google may be improving image quality after an almost stagnant performance over the last 3 generations or so. I suspect Google worked on the ISP too, after a very long while.

Let's see what the original king of great images (computational photography) has to offer.

notneo, 23 Sep 2020Compared to what?... A chinese phone?Yes compared to Nord, are you implying phones made in China are bad?

is that still available at $350 ?
                or they discontinued it ??

Looks like it'll be a handy device. 6" screen, 151gm and 8mm thickness.

The management of Google's camera team must be totally crazy. 5 years ago no smartphone camera hardware on the market captured more light per time than the Google Nexus 5x. Not the Xperia Z5, not the Microsoft Lumia 950 and also not the Galaxy S6. This was the case due to the f/2 lens and due to the large 29.3mm² sensor , which is larger than the 23.9mm² sensor of the Pixel 4.
Apparently Google has the attitude that decent is good enough. I don't see that Google has any motivation to improve the camera significantly. They refuse to use a tele camera, that's a huge mistake. And the specs of the 16mm equivalent ultra-wide angle camera are bad, too. Huawei shows that much better specs are possible for 18mm.

The Pixel 4 even had an ultra wide angle selfie camera, which could be used as a rear camera with decent results.

                                      Google must be joking:

-No in-display fingerprint reader?? The first Google phone with a rear fingerprint reader was the Google Nexus 5x, it was released 5 years ago.

-Again same camera specs? Since the revolutionary Nexus 5x HDR+ camera (must be used in HDR+ On mode, not the default mode which mostly doesn't choose HDR+) I kept an eye on every Google phone. Every year I was disappointed. A Pixel 4 only captures approximately 9% more light per time per frame than the Nexus 5x. That's nothing when you know that Xiaomi's Note 10 Pro captures more than 3 times as much light per time per frame as the Pixel 4. Apart from using the same camera specs, they even refuse to choose a high quality tele camera (for example periscope). Now I am pretty sure that there must be a Google manager, who simply doesn't care about the camera.

I have a Pixel 3a and a Nexus 5x and the HDR+ camera of the Nexus is better due to better white balance. The main advantage of the 3a is the HDR+ enhanced mode, which can deliver more details in low-light conditions, and the default zero shutter lag HDR+ mode, which is useful for fast objects, but isn't really better in low-light than the Nexus. Night Sight is usually worse than HDR+ enhanced by the way, too inconsistent with many blurry photos.
Otherwise regarding dynamic range and colors the 3a has no advantage over the Nexus camera in HDR+ On mode.

If it does indeed have wireless charging, then it's a metal frame with either a glass or plastic back, hopefuly the latter. I'll guess we'll find out soon enough.
