Its one of the improvement Sony yet to make. Flexibility in dynamic range matters, especially for a point & shoot device, when majority of users want a fast Auto capture.

    The 20fps with AE/AF, Photo & Cinema Pro app is superb already.

        [deleted post]BTW I hope not a lot of profesional photographers are using Samsung phones for quick photo.
        I bet a lot of photographers are not huge fans of Samsung postprocessing and sharpening.
        They toned it down big time on newer models, but it's too "vivid" :-D for my taste.

                But people are over obsessing about blown highlights in an image, that's not as important as subject of the image being properly rendered in end result. Seeing what's outside of the window means nothing when subject in the images has been crushed because of it, that's what Pixel does most of the time when shooting against the direct light source indoors. HDR has tons of issues like no intentional motion blur of either background or the subject, diminishing hotspots - in some cases sun the greatest light source in our galaxy looks like small white dot, night photography has no night time atmosphere as everything looks evenly lit like there is a giant area light baloon behind the photographer and so on.

But this american spyware is on every android phones so I guess Sony is not that bad, at least there is no tiktok or chinese app in it.

                    So there are 4 colours, none that wow and hey only 2 are actually going to be sold in the UK... right... that is design

                          Not even Album is there anymore.

                          All the rest are google and some apps companies pay to be there.
                          Funny you say full of bloatware when other like Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei have much more things installed.

                            Xperia auto mode will use HDR only when phone judges necessary. Because there are situations HDR should not be used.
                            Other phones use HDR all the time (mostly to increase dxomark score) no matter what kind of photo you want.

                            You cannot stack 5, 7, 10 or 12 frames if each of them is different.
                            They cannot overlap each other.
                            Why do you think XZ2 Premium cannot use the RGB and mono together for HDR photos?

                                The xperia software is very clean, is almost stock android, and is not coming with more than 1 app of bloatware, so stop talking shit N but one and ull see the diference

                                  Sony should fire their PR departement and hire people with brains.
                                  I mean Xperia 5 II is currently my top pick for upgrade, but those ads are making it pretty awkward to buy it.
                                  Do I really want to buy something designed for stupid people? At least that's what I got from those ads.

                                  Not to mention - more bugs with last two Xperia 5 updates ... GJ Sony, but at least proximity sensor seems to be working again.

                                      Sony make great devices and the software is good too. The only thing that bring the phone down is the bloatware they add to it. This is the only thing stopping me buying this phone. The bloatware(spyware) that I don't want or need. If I own the device, why are we forced(dictated to) to have software that is potentially harmful to user privacy and the hardware(recent major security vulnerability with Facebook apps) !!? When they stop adding these bloatware( or allow us to totally uninstall them), I'll buy a Sony device again, you should do the same too and send a message. You own the hardware and license the OS and apps....you can do what you want with the hardware and can use whatever OS/apps you want. Masterclass!! Masterclass in ignoring peoples privacy!!! Who owns the product...Sony or you?
