You really need 3G on the iphone, surfing the internet on less than dial-up speed is just torture. No matter how great the browser is, if it takes minutes to load something than its worse than not having the internet at all. 3G is not just for the video call, it is mainly for the faster internet access.

I think u'll find that actually "skyfire" is the most advanced internet browser, and a beta is out atm for windows mobile. It is far ahead of all other mobile browsers offering FULL flash support, and FULL java support, not to mention incredibly fast page rendering.
It is literally as good as a desktop browser, while limited to a small screen, anything u can do on ur desktop, you can do on this, including full youtube, games, even facebook applications. Were talking real advanced. Google it. I recommend it: better than iphone's safari, better than opera, and better than nokia's web browser.

The one who said that Nokia phones always break and that they are the worst makers of phones ever, is a maniac or simply an Apple or SE lover. Every market around the world shows that the Nokia phones are the best selling and most popular phones. Me and most of my friends use Nokia phones and we have never heard of a phone breaking(whatever that means).
This is to the one who said that iPhone is the best for browsing the internet. Well, have you heard about something called Opera and the news that they are releasing Opera mobile 9.5 by the end of this year. iPhone is best only now. But after it releases, Opera will again regain top spot.
I am not an Apple hater. Its just because iPhone is a totally overhyped piece of junk which offers little in terms of functionality and just more eyecandy.
This is why I HATE THE iPhone.

With the screen resolution and the lot of different third party app, is enought i think, after i use the itouch i was wondering wich phone to buy after my SE W300, actually i consider myself a Sony Ericsson fan, and i have tried a lot of big screens phones and to be honest with you i want the iphone, im waiting for de Xpheria to see if it change my mind.

I have the iPhone, and getting rid of it. Good phone for surfing the web, but other than that, a horrible phone. Looking at SE, Nokia, or Samsung for replacement.

I wonder what is all the hype about the iphone? It is not a 3g phone!! I will always love my nokia n95 & n91. 2 great phones to buy and the best !!

All some people do here is winge about lack of features that you would never use in the first place. "bluetooth archive transfer" wtf is that? I must be unique but I have never had to forward a received SMS, these are just petty winings because you can't face that your N95 isn't the best.
Re: Camera - well I personally think all phone cameras are not worth having. I personally don't see the point in a 5mp camera and why its better than a 3mp. Its the same image but twice the file size. Ok its bigger, but whats the point, when would you ever view the image that big or print it out to warrant the higher res? I have a 24" screen and a 3mp fills that pretty good so why 5mp? Its not a higher quality image by any means, the image quality past 3/4mp has nothing to do with camera res especially when viewed on a phone, its to do with the processing, colour depth etc etc. The manufacturers just make it a higher res because they know fools like you just look at the feature set.
Which brings me to my next point. Whats the point of having such rich features if theyre too frustrating and slow to even use. N95 this and N95 that, have you even used an iPhone? The way the whole phone is set out is years ahead of the Nbrick.
The reasone why the iphone doesn't have 3G is because of the battery life. Put a 3G chipset in and you wouldn't get half the life as you do now. Plus how many times do you actually video call? I think the whole concept of having to see the person talking whilst the phone is on loudspeaker so everyone can hear is stupid. And you can't winge about the internet because any phone against the iPhone for the web is no contest. Which is why after 8 months the iPhone has 71% of all mobile web traffic, no matter how fast.
Also the iPhone wasn't able to run 3rd party apps from release they were just web apps which you needed to be connected to the web to use. The reason it took so long is because the iPhone runs OSX and Apple dont want cruddy 3rd party apps dragging the phone down to a corrupting crashing nightmare like every other phone.
I will concede that it doesnt have video recording and GPS, but I have never taken a video on my phone ever and so far have managed to live without GPS which as far as I'm concerned is just a gimic (my mate using his N95 couldnt even get it to work - useless).
I think the reason Apple hasn't put some of these features in is because theyre still in their infancy and are currently not useful enough to warrant putting in like GPS.
Before you slaughter me FYI I dont have an iPhone, I just hate people winging about such petty things.

The 3D UI is facilitated by a PowerVR MBX lite as highlighted in the SDK, that is amazing when you compare with the N95 which features the full version of PowerVR MBX therefore Apple have maximised the GUI aspect and Nokia and others have yet to catch up!

i agree with most people here. this phone is somewhat overrated. no 3g? a camera not worth anything? software issues (ie fwd sms etc)? Come on apple. if you want to revolutionise you have to at least have the standard hardware that is on the market. we have 3.5g networks in certain countries now. we are far ahead of 2g.
but the interface is great....maybe the next gen ones will actually catch up all the way to the the rest of the hardware on the market.

they addd 30$ off profit though...
symbian is free, you made the program profit from it, if you want the source of s60 or any more hardware related, you have to pay.
but you don't have to give em 30% of your profit.-

well.. Iphone looks nice but simply lacks functionality..!
I mean other manufacturers "esp. nokia!" has done so far away
ahead with functions "3.5G, GPS and A-GPS, voIp" even far better
multimedia " camera,radio, vga 30 fps video ..etc" even the
storage "8,16GB" is not a new thing now..!
so its not justified to find a high end phone like iphone lacking
MMS, video, 3G, GPS.. not mentioning the limited ability to handle
music "u can download only from iStore !!" i mean come ooon ..!!!

Apart from the fancy screen I found the phone very primetive!! Apple could have added more features!! you get more feature from Nokia N95 8G than iphone 8G! on the otherhand apple have put a smart marketing plan to expand the iphone with iFUND!!

who ever wrote the above needs shooting and obviosuly doesnt actually understand the technology that goes into the so called fancy screen graphis. i have a feeling that this person is under the impression that changing the layout of his myspace page is a piece of genius at work. ok so it may lack 3G and may only have a 2mp camera but as far as primitive goes the only thing that thsi word relates to is the mind of the person who wrote the above.

The phone's way too expensive for its feature set, not to mention the myriads of bugs that come with it - the inability to forward received messages, the inability to send a single message to multiple recipients, message interactions with the same person being bulked together in a single window, the inability to search the phonebook using a standard character set, forcing you instead to "flick" through the entire phonebook with a certain "cool animation," and the list goes on. It's an overrated piece of equipment and, personally, I wouldn't dole out so much money to get my hands on just some cheap graphics.

I read a news paper this morning that Iphone will be available in Belgium on May 2008 and it will be simm free for the 3 networks users BASE, MOBISTAR and PROXIMUS. I hope it will be also totally simm free for all networks world wide.
