Or maybe it's just a bigger Qualcomm marketing push for SD875 on Asus' next ROG Phone 4?
I mean I just don't see how it's anything else since this mentions that Asus actually lets the ROG badge to go with it too, this can't be a specific diff phone model that'd end up competing against their own ROG Phone?

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2020You want to grow up. There is no perfect phone even if we o... moreGrow up ?
*First, perfection is a subjective notion, some like big phones other like small phones, this is is why perfection is not achievable, because there isn't any universal taste, everyone have its own desires, the best you can do is to make a well balanced thing, but in a market, the goal is to make diversity, some may have found their perfect phone matching at 100% their exact desires.
*Second, I am perfectly aware that there isn't a "all features" phone, which is exactly why I make those kind of comments in the first place as they have for goal to promote diversity.
*Third, I don't want a phone with ALL features, there are some like curved display, notches, punch holes that I don't want at all, I want to find a phone having the right combinaison of features, and for that I don't promote MY favorite design but diversity in general, so everybody, not just me, can get their ideal phone.
___
There are other who have similar facial unlock tech (the rest is the software) which are still light years ahead of the bad 2D, single camera based facial unlock found on most smartphones.
Here are some exemples :
https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?sFreeText=face id&sOSes=2
Other here :
https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?sFreeText=face recognition&sOSes=2
I didn't asked for the perfect facial recognition here, this would mean two IR camera working in stereo 3D and both capable of using Flash LiDAR ToF from two separated IR LED and Structured Light from a dynamic structured light matrix projector, working with an UV camera and flash to gather skin details and two camera one being wide with a close (selfie) optimized portrait and the other an ultrawide with a deep depth of field.
This combined with a good software would be way better than any Apple Face ID, also many brands stupidly think that having facial recognition is an excuse to ditch the FPS, only Huawei is smart enough to put both 3D facial recognition + Fingerprint scanner on their phones.
I personally like large phones, I wouldn't mind a 7" phone (body, not display), and I prefer thicker devices that allow better grip, large battery and no features compromises.
I still defend smaller body as it is too rare and highly requested, I don't defend super slim phones as there are already plenty and thicker phones are what's missing.
So yes, I know there isn't a phone with everything, not that it would be possible nor wishable as you don't want both notch and punch hole for exemple, but had more diversity in the market, there would be for sure some phone with more features than other, some with all the requested ones, some matching certain niche, etc etc.
The issue is that right now all phones have more or less the same options/features and with few variations, the biggest change other than chipset/memory size is the camera setup, other than that, most share the exact same characteristics.
One thing is certain though, when a feature is NOT INTRUSIVE (meaning, like a punch hole or a notch that if you don't want you can't just ignore it, unlike a 3.5mm Jack who isn't expensive, cause unnoticeable battery capacity difference and can just be totally ignored for those who don't want/need/use it), the most the better, there are absolutely not a single valid reason in the world to fight against non intrusive features, how arrogant and awful are those fighting against the 3.5mm Jack despite the vast majority wanting it back.
When something either added or removed don't cause any nuisance and isn't expensive, it should actually be a default feature with only few exceptions having/removing it.
Curved edge display should be a 1/10 occurrence, not a 1/2 occurrence, the market should be shared between notches, holes, pop up, bezels and other solutions, not having 99.9% of phones with holes and notches which are highly intrusive and only a handful of other options.
This is what I fight for, so, do I need to grow up ? Maybe, but tell me how is it wrong to want to make the market more open to diversity to lets everyone have a chance to get what they want and how complaining constantly against any uncommon idea that anyone suggest is better ?

AnonD-909757, 08 Oct 2020So you talk about "low IQ" while answering twice ... moreYou want to grow up. There is no perfect phone even if we only consider for the year and not accounting for future advancement.
All companies miss at least 1 or two things that would not make it perfect.
For one apple is the only one that can give a decent face unlock.
Another is size form factor and battery life.

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2020"Not a perfect phone for you but a perfect phone for a... moreSo you talk about "low IQ" while answering twice my comment as if I wrote a second one ?
Yes, respect the lack of diversity and choices that are only for profits without any concern for customers at the point of having anti-consumer behaviors, what a great way to never evolve and stagnate with an extremely bad market.
You don't even know what exactly I want and you state that it is impossible...Dude ? Did you just hallucinate a complete description of what I want, or does few exemples of lack of diversity are what you consider as the extent of my tastes ?
Considering that MANY peoples ask for, since a while, for a full features smartphones, which often is about CHEAP things, like 3.5mm Jack, IR Blaster, stereo speakers and so on, actually it would be really popular, hell there is even an article on that with the next Sony X II who had a massive popularity on pools as it have a really good mix of features with only few missing :
https://www.gsmarena.com/weekly_poll_the_sony_xperia_5_ii_could_be_exactly_what_many_have_been_asking_for_is_it-news-45346.php
Accept that you are totally wrong and peoples WANT IT and it is TOTALLY FAISABLE, just rarely done.
Not everything in this world serve you so that you can have ONLY the standard phones design you want. Grow up. Wake up from your egoistic dream.

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2020All of my explanation and you still can't get the poin... moreMaybe because your explained absolutely nothing and only got an excuse to be mean, I remember your location code "KRV", and I know why remember it, because everytime I saw any comment you made, it was rude and personal attacks.
"Don't exaggerate and make a twist."
Oh, waw, the sweet irony, I LITERALLY SAID :
"a DECENT camera setup (not over the top, just no crappy under 12Mp cameras or almost none like other gaming phones)"
Which doesn't need to be a genius to understand, I said it would be nice if it have a similar camera setup as other phones of the same price range, AND avoiding crappy camera that are the under 12Mp things, mainly considering that 12Mp are really cheap and the cost difference between a 2Mp, 5Mp something like that camera to a 12Mp is really small.
I didn't said that gaming smartphones camera are bad, I literally say they are lacking cameras, a telephoto for exemple is a popular request, and with a good telephoto periscope style you can use it for portrait and macro really simply as it is only about focus settings and capabilities.
"I don't give a fck what you want at all."
This prove that you are totally an arrogant egocentric egoistic mean person who don't care about anything else than his own life and still write things such as "The world does not revolves around you.".
So someone can't have a phone that is good at gaming AND love to take pictures ?
Based on what you say we should buy two phones ?
Sure, a Gaming phone is NOT a phone ONLY made for gaming, otherwise it wouldn't even have any camera in the first place, it is a phone with heavy emphasis toward gaming, which DOESN'T mean it can't also be good at other things, even something as complex and heavily purpose/shape defined as a military jet aircraft have many multi-roles and even an omni-roles, despite the huge difference between air to air combat and ground attack, but we couldn't have a gaming phone with good camera ? Sure...
The Poco F2 Pro is a perfect exemple of a phone having almost every possible features and it is one of the cheapest smartphone with a Snapdragon 865, which bust your "would be too expensive" totally wrong argument.
This isn't about compromises, this is about DIVERSITY, it isn't about MY tastes, it is about making enough DIFFERENT devices, including Gaming smartphones with good camera setup, so everyone have a chance to get what he want, which is exactly what happen in EVERY other markets, cars being the best exemples where you have a lot of shapes, sizes, power, options/features mix, types and so on, the difference between all markets and the Smartphone one is peoples acting like you.
REGARDLESS if the idea is genius like a totally new way to build smartphone that make them better, more eco friendly and cheaper or totally stupid idea like putting wheels on them so it can slide under women's skirts to take pictures, there is ALWAYS someone like you, who would have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING negative in any ways imaginable of such phone existing who need to crap on the idea, this is exactly why there is need for massively hated/requested things for a chance to be listened, like the removal of the 3.5mm Jack who needed more than two years before manufacturers start to relalize it is highly requested, why ?
Because unlike any other markets where peoples would judge PROPERLY ideas, not for the purpose of having something to complain about and bashing other, but for sharing ideas of improvements, concerns and other constructive criticisms, it would be a huge waste of ressources for market analyse and investors (who aren't necessarily tech savy and rely on user input to know the popularity of such concept) to figure out what to make next.
So regardless who complain or do requests, company won't read because of peoples like you, which is why phones are all the same and we needed LG to step up with the LG Wing and the Explorer project to make different original smartphones as they understood that there are so many unanswered requests that this is a huge market potential.
And this is funny you say I complain, because what I actually do is complaining about the unchanged, overly common designs and lack of variety, while you complain that someone ask for something different.
You failed to understand that I gave MULTIPLE exemples ? Dude...
So you are saying that a supercar can't have good sound system because it is made for power and not confort ?
It DO make sense.
I never said I want a phone made for myself, I fight for EVERYONE having a chance to get their desired things by pointing out how bad the constantly identical designs are.

Dometalican, 08 Oct 2020People with low IQ also supports mediocrity and accepts har... moreI think long before the Galaxy S5, there were several phones with innovations, the most obvious being the Nokia phones of the past, with several different designs, form factors and features every single year, example the N series, with lot of strikingly good looking phones such as the N95 with two way slider, N96 with slide out keypad, the N93 with camera on the side of the phone (crazy), the folding E90 Communicator, XpressMusic series with dedicated music buttons and lights that flicker with media playback, N73 with slide out back cover for camera that automatically activates it, Asha series with swipe gestures long before smartphones implemented it, N-Gage (dedicated gaming phone), E series, the unforgettable 808 PureView etc, it's a long list of innovations by Nokia. It was like they're reinventing the phone with every new model coming out. Nokia probably created more elaborate phone designs and form factors back in the day than all of the phone manufacturers out there, although not all of them were very useful but sure, there was innovation there, and always something different. And in the era of smartphones, it was Sony to start things like waterproofing, physical camera shutter button, LED lights bars, magnetic charging etc. Then there was Motorola with some but noteworthy innovations such as the Rokr and the Razr series in feature phones (sleek designs when phones were thick) and haptic touch controls, cutting edge designs, example the Flipout, Backflip or the Droid Milestone etc, different choice of materials for phones (kevlar, ballistic nylon), then the Motorola Defy which was one of the earliest or the first of Android rugged phones, then the revolutionary Shattershield screen tech with penta layer display setup, etc. IMO those were really drastic innovations there, and now although tech continues to develop but looking at it, every single phone coming out is the same, big glass brick, boring
