"Orion" phone with Exynos 1080 appears on AnTuTu, beats S865+ phones in the GPU test

12 October 2020
And comes very close in the CPU tests - it's faster than a Note20 Ultra 5G. The part that is not clear yet is which phones this is.

Problem was mongoose cores became too pricey. So, they had to cut some corners like old cortex core for middle core and less GPU core.
For example Exynos 9820 had A75 middle core where it should be A76. 12 mali G76 core instead of 16 core. Same thing happened for Exynos 990.

This is particularly impressive that the score of this new chipset is in its very first iteration. Over a period of time a lot of optimization will be built in. So by the time actual flagships will come in next year, the scores in all areas would have improved even more. So that will put it squarely at par, if not above SD875, and that will be a big deal

And for those who didn't know. Samsung ditched the Mongoose Cores which is actually the culprit on Samsung's Flagship SoC Heating that leads to Throttling. And know they are using all Arm Cores. So expect great improvements like this Exynos 1080.

If this Exynos 1080 is really a midrange chip, it definitely has great performance and will destroy Qualcomm's SD 700 series if they use only 2x Cortex-A78 @2.0-2.4 GHz with 6x Cortex-A55.
Then, IDK if this Exynos will throttle or if the Mali GPU will have graphic bugs in games.

Definitely plausible speculation since the mid-tier Exynos 1080 beat the ASUS ROG 3 flagship with a top-tier S865+ so it surely looks like Samsung is finally making strides in performance and the 2100 will be just what we need though I'd rather wait for a revision gen 2 just to be safe that everything is optimized from gen 1 of the newly made 2xxx series Exynos.

Ehm, why isn't legion on the list? Oh, because antutu is fixed to only a few known phones.

Geeze, these so called smartphone SOC enthusiasts are sounding more and more like girl scouts knocking, and no one is buying. Samsung makes inferior chips. Samsung has actually made Qualcomm's SOC's on more than a couple occasions. Samsung fabbed the fully custom 14nm Snapdragon 820/821 also the 10nm SD835 and 10nm+ SD845. Of course the SOC was designed by Qualcomm but, Samsung along with other manufacturers like TSMC has actually been the sources of these SOC's and the silicon that goes into them.
Also, Samsung's new 1080 looks to be a montser, even though, it's not Samsung's design. It's actually ARM's design, and Samsung is using of the shelf parts from ARM and fabbing it at there factories. There have been occasions where a mobile CPU or GPU designer has made custom CPU's or GPU's like Imagination Technologies (IMG) PowerVR. They made custom GPU's for Apple and Apple is still using a PowerVR designed GPU. They won't tell the public that but, they still have PowerVR Fusion based designes there using and they own some of IMG's Licenses but, it still a PowerVR designed GPU. Applenwill fill the pain when PowerVR introduces there new A1/AX 2 Teraflop mobile GPU into SOC's. But, back on track. ARM could've madena special 16-32core ARM Mali-Valhal GPU for Samsumg until they get AMD's GPU of the ground.
Also, again. Don't get me wrong. I'm a Snapdragon guy all the way. I love my mods and running slightly older but, much cheaper hardware that just a year or two behind the newest. Take the fully unlocked LG v40 and v50 for example. The Snapdragon 845 and Adreno 630 GPU which has 512ALU's is still plenty powerful enough for any of today's apps and games. Since LG's V-series has gained ROOT i have been having a bunch of fun. Like the V40. I got a Dec.2019 made LG v40 QA7 fully unlocked for $250 just 6 months ago and loaded the ROG Phone 1 2.96GHz clock mod on the 4 A75/Kryo derivative HP cores andngot the Adreno 630's 512ALU's running at 825MHz giving it over 900GFlops of FP32 compute. For comparison the Adreno 640 in the SD855 has 256 more ALU's giving it just 20% more performance from the stock Adreno 630 in the SD845.
Also, now that SONY's Pro Cam/Video software is up and running on other Snapdragon devices i got back into making and editing video's along with pics.
Gaming on the other hand has been just fine on the SD845, running at its stock 2.8GHz configuration and Adreno 630's 710MHz. The only games that don't run are un-optimised graphically maxed out ones, like mad out city 2 or TauCeti Vulkan but, those are pushing PlayStation 4 Pro graphics territory. There are a few others i won't mention but, with ROOT i can monitor frame rates along with frame times and CPU and GPU usage and rendering algorithms. I've had a lot of fun with the SD845 in LG's V40 phone. It has a 6.4in unobtrusive notched display running at 3K with a superb 2Vrms 3.5mm headphone jack that can push a pair of 650Ω 800HD's. It clears all audio codecs up with a 32bit ESS Sabre qDAC. Same with the LG v50. Its basically the same exact phone but, with a 4000mAh battery instead of a 3300mAh one and has limited 5G capabilities with a Snapdragon 855 with the densest Vapor-Chamber ever put into a phone. With LG's custom Vapor-Chamber the SD855 can easily be overclocked to SD855+ levels and beyond. Frequency scales perfect on mobile SOC's because we haven't hit the diminishing return wall yet. Where just getting to 3GHz on the CPU cores now. So, no worries there. For every 100MHz on the CPU or GPU, can net you a 10% performance bump. That's why the SD855+ was such a great chip. The GPU overclock alone gave it another 15% on top of the already 20% bump we got on the Adreno 640. Which Qualcomm added another 50% more ALU's too. Making the SD855 Plus's Adreno 640 that has 768ALU's (GPU cores, Floating Point vector unit's) whatever they want to call them. It makes the Adreno 640+ the first mobile GPU in a SOC to pass that 1Teraflop (1000GFlops) of FP32 compute barrier. That's more than enough GPU compute power for any mobile game or video editing apps. Also, now Qualcomm has new Tensor cores to help with that along with AI and a dedicated DSP.
Thanks to AIDA64 for being able to read the ALU's on the SD820's Adreno 530 GPU. We knew that the Adreno 530 had 256ALU's just like nVIDIA's TegraX1 had 256 cuda cores. Now, there not the same architecture or design and can't be measured alone by that. But, we can measure performance. The TegraX1 Maxwell based GPU ran a 1GHz flat out while the Adreno 530 ran at 653 MHz in the SD821. But, in 8 out of 10 games and benchmarks, they were basically identical.
Comparing a Qualcomm Adreno mobile GPU to a desktop cut down Maxwell based nVIDIA GPU isn't exact but you can measure performance. For a mobile GPU to even come close to a desktop one, is a huge step.
Once again, back to the Adreno GPU ALU counts. By Qualcomm announcing they added another 50% in ALU's to the Adreno 640 we knew that it had 768 ALU's from the Adreno's 630's 512 ALU count. Also, the Adreno 530 had 256 and up that count by 50% gives the Adreno 630 512ALU's. They did this once again in the Adreno 650 in the SD865. The Adreno 650 has 1,024 ALU's and jst 20% more performance than the Adreno 640 and its 768ALU's. Did i lose you guys yet. But, just by adding a 100MHz+ bump to the GPU's frequency, got us another 15%, on the GPU. So by going with the Plus variant of the the SD855 or 865 we get a 35% jump in performance. That sounds a lot better than 20%. Now we have the Adreno 650 with it's 1,024 ALU's putting up 1.2Teraflops of FP32 and the Adreno 650 Plus is rated at 1.380+ Teraflops of FP32 compute. What does that mean. Look at it like this. AMD's RX580 8GB OC desktop GPU has 2,304 Streaming Processors (GPU cores) and rated at roughly 6 Teraflops of FP32 compute. Though, its power usage is rated at 250watts plus. Having a mobile GPU with almost 1/3rd of that processing capabilities at just 4 to 9watts is very impressive. The Adreno 630 in the Snapdragon 845 has 2GB's of V-ram and that hasn't changed. The Adreno 650 in the SD865 also has 2GB's of V-ram. Don't ask me how i know that. But, its 100% confirmed and true. That's why the SD845 and Adreno 630 is still a viable gaming option. With the 865's Adreno 650 having 2GB's of V-ram it doesn't have to swap out from the systems main ram. Add that with a 1.2Teraflop-1.3Teraflops of FP32 compute and you'll be leading industry in gaming and in benchmarks. The Adreno 660 or 760 in the SD875 has to be at 1.5Teraflops or else ARM and Samsung will will becomes the new goto gaming SOC. The 1080's Mali-G78 is already looking pretty fas but, when AMD's new mobile GPU hits the market, Qualcomm better have a 2TFlops GPU or go and talk to IMG PowerVR, because they'll be in this GPU TFlops race too. Anyway, hope you learned a thing or two from reading this. It took forever to type this on my v50.

So it can't be identical to Samsung's, unless you're talking about 1+3+4 cores configuration.
