The short-range & can't be used in snow/foggy/rain is really challenging. Qualcomm really want this to ne successful, but The multi-array/multi-beam patents on antenna really make the 2.5Ghz-4.9Ghz really powerful in managing bandwidth in crowded space.

Showing this news feels like Realme is teasing its customers by launching these phones in China!!

                  Useless for users :
                  - lack of infrastructures
                  - short range
                  - unusable indoor...

Usage will be for autonome cars in 5 or 10 years...

5G carrier aggregation is more usefull...it's allready available on Dimensity 800U when it's not yet on Qualcomm's (it will be with X60 modem and Snapdragon 875)

joe nodden, 13 Oct 2020Idk about you but I can't find a single legitimate tes... moreDimensity 720 scores around 300.000 (it's easy to find on internet) on AnTuTu v8 and it's technically normal as Helio G90T scores around 290.000.

                    240.000 isn't serious because :
CPU is nearly the same 2 Cortex A76 at 2Ghz (ok, 2.05Ghz on G90T) and 6 Cortex A55 at 2.0Ghz on both
CPU scores the same on both

Ram is the same 2x16bits lpddr4x at 2133mhz
D720 supports UFS2.2 storage with write booster when G90T supports 2.1. This lead to better Mem and Ux scores

About GPU, it's more complex... Architecture changed.
G76 core is made of 3 clusters of 8 lanes for a total of 24 lanes per core...with 4 cores G90T has a total of 96 lanes

G57 core is made of 2 clusters of 16 lanes for a total of 32 lanes per core. Yes you read it : G57 is more powerfull than G76...With 3 cores, D720 has a total of...96 lanes too...
                    The only difference between G57 and G77 is the number of cores...from 1 to 6 it's G57, from 7 to 16, it's G77.
Neverthess, GPU's frequency is lower on D720...GPU's score is a little lower on D720, but not that much

Anonymous, 13 Oct 20205G smartphone in 2020 has pretty much re-defined what means... moreThe main reason is because competition.

Qualcomm were pushing the mm-wave like crazy. Qualcomm bet on mm-wave to dominate. Whereas the asian (mediatek & kirin) were pushing the 5Ghz.

If mm-wave lost support, qualcomm will lost intellectual property income. Thus, qualcomm want to make sure every phone support mm-wave, so carrier will not hesitate to use qualcomm technology.

For mediatek & kirin, they were rushing to flood China market. China market were optimized to use the 2.5Ghz - 4.9Ghz. no need to pay expensive qualcomm mm-wave Intellectual property.

Realme 5G smartphones for $100 and up:
                            X7Pro: ~$320, D1000+
                            X7: $260; D800U
                            Q2 Pro: ~$235, D800U
                            V5: ~$200, D720
                            Q2: ~$175, D800U

Anonymous, 13 Oct 2020just FYI 240K antutu is higher than any Snapdragon 6xx series5G smartphone in 2020 has pretty much re-defined what means for a low-end phone. Within a few weeks, we should see $100 5G smartphones with Antutu (v8) scores over 300000. With some luck, we may even see a $75 5G smartphone with Antutu (v8) scores over ~250000 before the end of the year.

This is an exciting time for a 5G smartphone hunter, since phone-makers are preparing the market for a 100% 5G smartphone takeover in the coming months. (All 5G phones are better 4G phones in the absence of 5G infrastructure.) In other words, a transition to 5G phones does not need to be in sync with the 5G infrastructure buildup. 5G smartphone transition is necessarily in sync with 5G infrastructure buildup only in select market(s).
