They also forgot to mention the fact that iPhone 7 was the best phone on the market by a mile back then due to the seamless working between hardware and software, this is still true of all and every iPhone model and the iPhone 12 will be no exception. This is why iPhones sell like hotcakes while android manufacturers try and grab customers through beefed up components and no innovation.

If its about missing 3.5mm jack, it was more like try at getting closer to connector-less futuristic design which is not bad itself, but only if there is better option, which there is not.
Wireless option is lossy, adapter needs to be carried and its another hw prone to break down.
Ideally this ''cool and futuristic'' movement would be possible with more durable connector which can stay on phone without getting in the way of you using it like keeping it in pants or charging it.
I'm all in for progress but this move was badly made and even made people to either abandon lossless option for the sake of more pricy earphones (also presented misleadingly with a ''pro'' word) or it made them realize how much the miss a jack.
For now sony as one of few is at least aware of that and brought the best of both worlds, jack and LDAC.
Its not the solution though, we surely need more durable connection than 3.5mm jack(as its more prone to breaking than ideal 6.3mm one) but also truly lossless wireless option.
Many brands did blindly follow apple or just others thinking its the next big thing but ultimately it was just move to stay cool and make some money out of bluetooth headphones, while users ''suffer'' from using lossy devices(and what you could call less enjoyable and brain tiring audio).
Would be great for brands to be less of copycats and actually bring something useful.

AnonD-948658, 18 Oct 2020Apple has always driven innovation Apple may be one of the best companies in the world. But not because of the love and respect for its customers, but because they are very good at marketing their products.

Did you guys see the iphone's 12 announcement? Iphone 12 series it could very be the most uninteresting iphones in recent years ("new design"?, 5G? available only to maybe 1% of population, etc.). But, the way that they describe the phones, it makes you go out and buy one immediately. That is the power of Apple (playing with human psychology). And when you can master that, you can launch almost everything you want, people will still buy it.

for better or for worse. I remember being ecstatic hearing that the 7 got a telephoto lens, only to be disappointed that it was only on the unwieldy Plus size and that they removed the headphone jack.

AnonD-948658, 18 Oct 2020Apple has always driven innovation Yeah, removing headphone jack so airpods get famous, introducing mag safe, removing chargers, big notches, inventing widgets after android did, overpriced smartphones, extremely low base varients storage, man indeed they had a history of innovating useless and garbage things

They also started this trend of raising phone prices every year which other companies began copying and look where we are today, $1500 for a smartphone, that's absurd and needs to stop
