The thing isn't if the phones can handle Jelly Bean because alot of them can, but it's if the manufacturer feels like spending the time to actually update the devices that can.

To all companies, including Sony, you either start complying to the 18 months agreement OS upgrades, or we will see you all in court!

They should also fix bugs like led one with 4.1 across the whole 2011 range

The fact that third party can use 4.1 on a arm 11 power phone with less ram than the entire 2011 series meant it can be done, just how much commitment the developer willing to put in.

Sony can't eat it's own words, anroid 4.0 and 4.1 are two OS released well within the product life cycle of the 2011 series phones, users brought it knowing full well they have a promise of continuous Os support for 18 months, so that event mean from it being count from day one, and any given os update requires a bloody 6 month to develop it still meant phones like mini series would enjoy the support all the way til April 2013. Therefore android 5.0 maybe off the table for sure, but 4.1 surely should be part of the commitment, it is a way more streamline slim down Os than 4.0, therefore It should be supported regardless how many months Sony needs to optimize it. Commitment is commitment.

If any of the 2011 lineup should actually get JB it is the Lt18 Arc S cuz it was the last device in the lineup and it is the most powerful one , but , any device that's gonna receive JB should expect some serious ( negative ) affect at battery life cuz the CPU/GPU is gonna stay active most of the time to provide that buttery JB experience we saw on the N7

Sony, please give us AOSP jelly bean. Xperia 2011 models have similar hardware capability as Nexus S, so they should able to handle jelly bean.

Given the rumours so far, there won't be any 2012 successor to the two Pros and the Play, so at least for them the "you want new software, you buy new phone" justification doesn't stick.

Given that 4.1 isn't that big of a jump from 4.0 than 4.0 was from 2.3, I am hopeful that all 2011 Xperias (yes, even the Play, since it's been said that 4.1 is lighter on the hardware) will get updated. And yes, there's already CM10 support for at least some 2011 Xperias.
