Leon, 31 Jul 2012Beware: Sony is NOT trustworthy.
Just look at how long t... moreSo true...
How can anyone still trust sony?
Announcing ICS for the Xplay granted customers a future for their phone and explained its high price.
It was supposedly meant to fight fragmentation and it gave customers the reassuring feeling they'd have an updated phone for quite some time.
Having lied and deceived al those who've bought the Play, sony has caused them harm.
But, at then end of the day sony will must feel it has harmed itsef, its reputation and its profits.
Worse still: sony has set a precedent that has gone unpunished, so other immoral brands/companiesare going to follow it.
Consumers are merely pawns in this game: unprotected and unimportant whenever profit margins and stock values are considered.
Stronger, enforceful laws should protect customers, the weakest link of this chain from such abuses and false advertising.
Sadly, that doesn't seem to be happening in the near future, so direct action such as NOT buying the brand is their only defense weapon.

it will be very tough for Sony to get JB on the 2011 phones but if they pull it off then my hat goes off to them. If they can just get rid of that bloatware that would be a start!

The reason why the Xperia Play didn't received the update is because gameplay. While most games works in the Xperia play in GB thats not the case for ICS. Most of the Xperias 2011 use the same CPU, GPU, memory. I have seen games working fine in Xperia neo in GB and then crashing in the same phone running ICS.

jelly bean?!they can't even roll out ics on time..first there's delays..then si numbers..busy server and bla bla bla..gives plenty of excuses to cover up that they actually don't even bother about 2011 xperia..even the already released update contain lots of bugs/issues and it seems like they don't even bother to fix it..xperia neo will be my last phone from sony..10 years..so much for loyalty..

It's the time to fixed this, Google. You have to make your Nexus Phone series become more powerful. Are you kidding me to put the first Galaxy S GPU on Galaxy Nexus and expect us to buy your cr@p? No microSD slot either, why?
If your kids do not listen to your words, and made your name stinks, it's daddy's duty to punish them!

Well, perhaps it will be easier to sell a little bit more devices while buyers will be dreaming about Jelly Bean. And when time comes... well, who knows what vendor will do.
Vendors... Phones nowadays cost more then notebooks, but tend to drop support after 1 year is still a normal practice, unfortunately. Will be nice if EU or some other regulator will push 3 years support as a must - maybe for additional money because everything costs, but still.

Beware: Sony is NOT trustworthy.
Just look at how long they've announced ICS for the Xperia Play and ended up abandoning the phone.
Sony have not kept their word and failed their advertised promises.
Be warned.

Would the Sony Ericsson Arc S be eligible for the upgrade?
It's a fantastic phone. The last and one of the best of the Sony Ericsson lineup.
