Google Pixel 5's SD765G chipset is a serious underperformer

There might be a very good reason behind this decision.

woahh .. thats pathetic from google

This article makes me realise that I made such a good decision going for the Pixel 4a instead of lamenting the Pixel 5 not being launched here in India. For a SD 765G, that's actually painfully slow! Better off with the 730G, as GSMArena themselves says: "Flagship chipsets are no longer necessary!": Agreed to that 110%.

[deleted post]I bet you have never used a recent custom android phone. Stock android is always praised by reviewers because it gives continuity for people who keeps switching their phones every few months. The average customer wants features, not some pure form of Android that's lacking in features that most custom skins have had for years. You say that they are half baked and nobody uses them and then praise Google for introducing those same features into stock android years later.
I have used Pixels, Oxygen OS, Mi UI and Color OS. Oxygen OS is the best of all worlds and offers all the useful stuff on top of stock android while giving a miss to the gimmicks. But I would still take Color OS and Mi UI over stock android any day cos of the amount of useful features and customizability it offers.

[deleted post]Half baked features that no one uses? Lmao. Get a good phone maybe.

This just means the gpu is slower than the Pixel 4a. The cpu is still faster and the storage is almost twice as fast. This is only relevant if you play heavy games, which I don't.

I own the Pixel 5,and it feels very smooth, especially with 90hz. It feels noticeably speedier than the 4a, which I also own.

I think people buy pixel phones for their photography prowess and nothing else hence we see such slow performance.

So hilarious, these comments. Enjoy your bloatware and high end chips that you won't even notice a difference using. I've used every manufacturers phones and the pixel gives the most streamlined and enjoyable experience out of any of them. Who games on their phone anyway? That's what a pc is for. Next you'll be telling me the ear piece speaker is crap audio when listening to music. Who listens to music without headphones??

I was looking at benchmarks for the different Snapdragon chipsets and in many tests the 765G in the Pixel 5 is hardly better than the 835 in a Pixel 2. What is the point of getting a $700 phone that is not really an upgrade over a three year old phone?

The camera is not really an upgrade, having barely changed in years. The stereo speakers are not front facing, like on the Pixel 2. On the screen size is an improvement, but I'm not that obsessed with bezelless designs, at the expense of front facing stereo speakers.

Unless you absolutely must have 5G, it just don't see the point of any of Google's new phones.

When you actually use the phone, there's really not much of a very significant difference from the latest chipsets unless you would probably play highly intensive graphic games. but for people who would use phones as just texting, taking photos, social media such as me. I don't mind not having the fastest chipset. However, the price could have been lower at $500, it is just too expensive for what it offers.
