Back then you could have a conversation with the phone. But it all changed with s6. Then it ended just like today. I'll look that up for you. Samsung lost their unique touch after s5.

I use the translator occasionally. Ideally it should be integrated into Samsung Browser like on Chrome whereby you can set it to automatically translate.

before S-voice, also existed Vlingo on Galaxy S2.

      so Vlingo > S-Voice > Bixby

and i also hope Bixby will follow up to grave, really disturbing feature

It's too deeply integrated in the OS and you cannot fully disable it (at least not in One UI 2.5 and earlier). You can disable the trigger button, but the app itself cannot be disabled and it still shows up in the menu.

Also, I just opened the app to see what happens and I'm now asked to give Samsung the permission to send me marketing information and allow the review of my audio recordings. While I would probably trust Samsung more than other manufacturers (pick any Chinese brand probably except OnePlus, they are way worse), I still don't want to share my data.

Why ppl hate so much on Bixby? It can't possibly be that bad, especially if you expect assistants do basic things like set alarms or tell you time or battery remaining. I'm pretty sure it can do that just fine. Having everything centralized around Google and their stuff sucks. Which is why I'm perfectly fine with Siri and would probably be with Bixby too. Anything but just Google.
