06 August, 2012
Even though Apple only contributed to 6 percent of the overall devices, it took home the majority of the profits.

Just goes to show how pathetic crApp£€ customers are -- so keen to be exploited by this corporation due to irrational hype, and so stupid that they are creating one of the most evil mega-corporations in human history.

iphones are overpriced but just that can't explain these numbers. i tink they must have a verry efficient internal structure and have low cost for operating. also, having just one line of product mean they probably spend less than other compgnies in research and developpment. they developpe 1 phone every 2-3 y while samsung and other developpe about 7-8 phone per years. im an apple hater but i must admit this is impressive and they should not be blamed for making profits. you might be paying more for an iphone than any other phone w the same capacities but if ppl are willing to invest that money just for the brand it mean marketing team did awesome job. nothing else...

[deleted post]First of all, for gods sakes...learn english man. Its Pity no PITTY....what is PITTY?
Second, I agree with you that apple has a better interface than android, especially for the non-tech savvy population who are incapable of even downloading an app on android.
Three, its all branding. Has always been. You don't buy a girl a $500 ring from the Diamond Exchange, you get her a Tiffany's ring and she feels special.
Apple makes the user feel special with good design, simplicity and when someone paid a 50% premium on a product, you have to make yourself think its actually worth it even if it really isn't.

Android can do what apple did and make the OS as simple as possible, but if they do, they are going to be fighting over the same customer. Apple has its customers and android has theirs.

Well i knew Apple made 6x the profit on their phones but it appears they are making alot more. Then again since they are using ageing parts i guess they are making alot more now then when it first shipped. That and the sweat shops in China (foxconn) they are saving massive amounts, then the money laundering ontop of that too.

No one is disputing that apple is successful it's that you are paying stupid amounts of money for a brand. Then you say you can't afford a apple product, well droid phones an't much cheaper but they use considerably faster and more advanced components in their devices. Hence they make less profit, maybe 50% at most vs apples 500% easy.

That's why apple don't post such things as people know they are being screwed over. However didn't the courts say they had to post them to see if their "competitors" are having a negative impact on their sales due to so called "stolen" patents. This is clearly not the case.

Then I laugh even more when I see the re-sell values of the iphone 4S and the SGS3.

You're trying to make sense of units sold vs total GDP from the phone market.

                            its like android selling 100 units @ $100/unit = $10,000
                            and apple selling 20% of market share = 20 units $550/unit = $11,000

who is responssible for more revenue generation? Apple! it makes perfect sense.

o yea, and not to mention that samsung's phones look like an ugly piece of dog turd. i.e. galaxy s2. wat an ugly and pathetic design for a phone...

... and then lets not even get into battery life, laggyness, failure to respond to touching the screen and a more complicated OS for no damn reason.

I'm not an apple fan boy.. but i'd take a beating for apple over that pathestic OS called andoird anyday.

It's because apple gives the same services that other companies offers but with higher prices, it's all about BRANDS NAME, oooh I got an APPLE with a GUCCI hard case, A lot of people don't even know what's iOS or Android they just care that it has a bitten apple on it....

I suppose the fact of having a single operating system and just two devices means Apple can keep production costs way below the competition. Unlike Android handsets they have no need to customise a Gingerbread for 15 different devices just to find out ICS is coming and everyone wants in so they have to start all over again. Then comes the end price which in iPhone's case is usually about 1/3 higher than the current top notch Android handset (I'm comparing Galaxy SIII and iPhone 4S here). All this difference makes up for such huge profits.
