A significant part of their profit comes from those overpriced 2-year contracts. No wonder Apple can't make any money in Europe :D
I'm not pouring my cash into Apple's pockets every month. I have a droid and pay $30/mo for unlimited no contract data on TMo. How much does unlimited data cost on a US iPhone? Oh, yeah, you can't have unlimited data on a US iPhone :P

here in US, GS3 And Iphone 4S are for $199.99 on a 2years contract!. same price, but way different devices.
the matter of the fact is, that you can take a horse to the water, but you cannot force it to drink it.
OiS was revolutionary. it changed the entire concept of touchphone devices.

This is not about Apple VS Samsung.
This is about the accuracy of this reporting. Like what I've posted earlier, 6% sold units can't represent 77% of the total profit. It just doesn't make any sense.
Again, get the price of each of the iPhones sold (which should only be 6% of the total units sold last quarter), then compare the sum of that to the sum of the other units sold. Especially to the top selling phones.

They certainly have a great business model but what to do with all that cash. Why dont they be really innovative and develop real game changing software as hardware far outstrips current software demands. But what? The mobile phone is becoming your camera, video, game machine if you have a psychological problem and cannot communicate with the real world, so what to develop. The mobile is not a notebook replacement, so what to develop. Frankly OS's are becoming boring. Win 8 might change that, or Apple might pull something out of the bag, but it is difficult to see anything in the near future. I feel Apple could be in a hole of its own making. If they dont come up with something spectacular, one might as well just stick with a cheap rubbishy Android product, or a candy bar Nokia does the basic job. So where is the real next round on innovation.

I am sorry guys but with %6 percent second quarter sell, %77 profit!!! I don't believe it, it is not possible with even overpriced smart phones etc... etc...
Samsung sold more than 20 million S3 in almost 2 months!

Obvious they are going to get more profits. They overcharge anyway but a £100 increase for a doubling of memory in their iphones is pure greed.Dont forget they buy in bulk as well so it costs them pence to implement but 100,s pounds for customer.

The only reason why Apple reports record profits is because of their exorbitant profit margins. Apple essentially uses average components and under their brand name price it above the standard high end rates. A good majority of the public buy the iPhone for the Apple brand, a funny fact is individuals who can barely afford to do so save up for months to buy an iPhone for the Apple tag. Thankfully Apple is no longer the desirable company it once was and is - like Sony is on it's final leg. It no longer is the "innovative" company it once was, sadly perhaps the only place where Apple excels is in the legal department.
