I can’t see the problem? You can already use iOS with mouse/trackpad and it works very well and they have already build new user experience for that how mouse pointer handles touch screen functions.

Now I wonder how apps optimised for touch screens run on the macs?
They should have rather launched iBook with touch support or MacPad with desktop app support, or both.

Hope their will be a APPLE STORE in Philippines!

nikojas, 10 Nov 2020My 2011 Macbook Air looked exactly like this! No new design... moreI have a feeling they will transition the look to he similar to the new boxy design of the new ipads and iphones. That when I will buy it. Can’t wait.

          not bad apple...not bad....
          unless it's unrepairable.

what Apple did with M1 to gain 50% more battery life, 3 more cpu and gpu RAW power,Tb/usb4, less heat vs the exact same macbook air but with Intel x86 in it ?!!??!
You buy a mac for work and use or for furniture to look at it only ?
              Again, very childish

nikojas, 10 Nov 2020My 2011 Macbook Air looked exactly like this! No new design... moreYup, and every stealing / cloning Asian's manufactureS also designed their computers to look just like Apple's MacBook series line that the old, but still beautiful design, to this day is still very popular to this day.

e.g. Huawei MatePro and MagicBook Pro, Xiaomi RedmiBook, Chuwi HeroBook Pro and oodles more.

This just shows, if it isn't broke (obviously not from all the clones) why fix it?

nikojas, 10 Nov 2020My 2011 Macbook Air looked exactly like this! No new design... moreWell, if it's not broken don't fix it. And spending money on redesigning is waste since people will but it anyway, plus they want to maintain the familiarity or the signature design.

Hopefully, Apple can transition well from x86 to ARM considering ARM and Apple have made greater efforts in improving performance compared to Intel and AMD. This is turning out to be a very interesting Apple product in a while only due to the change in chipset. Rumours of Macbook going cheaper were false which is unfortunate.

                        3 TIMES better performance?

Even if they put the new air at the highest possible performance and the old air at the lowest possible, that's still like 1.5 times faster!

Far better than what intel has to offer.

NotAnOpinion, 10 Nov 2020And this is why Apple is and will continue to be unrivaled. ummm...no. Without the ability to dual-boot at least one of Windows or Linux, these laptops are useless for a significant chunk of people actually needing this performance. VMs are just not gonna cut it, especially since they need to emulate x86 which will make the new laptops actually slower than previous intel ones inside the VMs.
Also, we still need to see some actual performance numbers, it's unclear whether they are actually faster than ryzen mobile chips, especially the upcoming 5000 series. The numbers they touted were ridiculous and self-contradicting. Saying it's 3.5x faster(Ice lake intels have about 4300 GB5 score) means they're equivalent to desktop ryzen 9s, which would make them faster than any laptop by far, like 20-30% faster, but they actually admitted they're not the fastest laptops. So, in typical Apple fashion, they seem to overhype and exaggerate.

Waiting for the day when iPads become MacPads or MacMicro.

cant wait for reviews comparing intel mac vs new macs with m1

mac air vs mac pro i think the difference here will be mostly higher clock because of active cooling more than anything else
