It's not always what it seems, behind the scenes EVERY single company does this. I'm sure if we dig through Apple is the same. But, what I can't understand is why Apple is so intent on a monopoly they would stoop to such levels, this is not competitiveness. Many people copy, if you want to know who REALLY started making tablets go back and you will see Apple isn't the first, and then explain to me how they really complain to be inventing everything, they INNOVATE, so does Samsung. Innovation always has some resemblance to the product it innovates. Tell me how else would a tablet look unique and remain logical. Origami?

I think that the document is old,touchwiz has improved,maybe some of those disadvantages still exists on samsung phones,but not all of those.If you compare the iPhone 4S features and the Samsung Galaxy S3's,it's probably different because the S3 has improved its UI,believe me.

I'm not sure if apple is right with the whole suing thing. But this document made me understand why there are so pissed off of samsung. Apple has some philosophy for perfection and visual exquisiteness which Samsung clearly lacks and that's why we see Samsung doing everything to be successful while not having any idea why iPhone captured huge positive response.

“Samsung benchmarks many peer companies. In fact, these are typical competitive analyses routinely undertaken by many companies in many industries — including Apple."
Surely Samsung has, within the past few years, done this for Nokia, the one time industry leader, HTC, their biggest Android competitor and one time darling of the Android community, or even maybe LG, their hometown competitors. The point isn't whether or not they have done a competitive analysis for another company. The point is have they ever done such a thorough screen by screen comparison of one of their products to a single product of another company. At least pick an old comparison of Nokia if they don't want to show anything to sensitive.

Samsungs contract with Apple is subcontracted because Qualcomm cannot fulfill the order. Apple's prior contractor for microchips just declared bankruptcy a few months ago ----- proof Apple pays horrible. Apple wants a more lucrative direct deal with Sammy, but does not want to invest in it. At the end of the day, Apple paid over 80k for that 260-odd-page document trying to disprove how cheap they really are.
Yes competitive documents are normally prepared... but the simple grammatical structure of that over priced biased document is horrible. It's like paying people to tell you how beautiful you are...some ego.

Talking about copy,apple is the one who stole concepts from other people . You guys should read about Gladwells comment on Steve Jobs bio. I once respected Jobs. But now I see he's one of the biggest concept stealer ever. Ipad concept from Microsoft and so on.

This is nothing more than a normal business practice. Every company, including apple, has those in their marketing department that compare and analyse the competition. That is how technology advances.
Having owned an S1 and an owner of a S3, i would say 90% of these observations are not even implimented.

Do some research or ask someone who has the real world experience to know these things... One thing that a smart person would not do is pretent to know or argue over something that he/she doesn't know about and come across as ignorant and disingenuous. Can't blame you as you leave the impressiont that you are a student or havent been exposed to such a working environment. Unless you have the experience, its hard to grasp the process and notion behind it despite the simple name of the document.
Competitive analysis is not done for every other company in the market as it is very time consuming and expensive to produce one. There is not much value in doing that for a comoany that is not deemed as a major/key competitor. Pretty sure Samsung has done is for other major competitor at some point in time but why would they disclose a confidential info for a ridiculous claim... Sure Apple, Motorola, and HTC do them as welll.
Sorry for the long and boring fact (at least it tries to be coherent) when only one-liner sarcasm, black humor, groundless claims, ignorance, and slander appear to be the norm among certain fans.

Should they end their partnership, Apple will have to make new contracts with several smaller companies, and even then it's not sure they will be able to continue producing as many iPhones.

My good god.. me myself always compare any phone I intrested in in every possible aspect, sometimes even write the comparison on a piece of papers. Does it mean that if somehow my comparison get leaked on the internet, then some company can just sue me, telling that I do it to copy their product?!

*Ps: I strongly recommend Gsmarena.com to also remove the feature to compare any phone head to head. Just a safe precautious incase that the same company later on will sue that gsmarena tried to copy their phone.
