They do this now since they managed to lock in a lot of users.

    Nice hailcorporate post btw.

Android--Master, 12 Nov 2020Good luck with encrypted files on cloud. Physical storage... moreBased on what you said it seems that you are that guy who lacks knowledge but acts smart.

I have never had trouble uploading encrypted files to the cloud i use SSE File / Text Ecryption & Password Vault on my phone a free open source app available for Android, iOS, Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
You can even use web based encryptor if you don't like installing the app on your devices.

Physical storage is always the first choice for storing any files but cloud storage can gives us more assurance, for example there have been many reports of people losing their files because their physical storage was damaged/corrupted for various reasons such as photographers/videographer who losing the photos/videos they took due to SD card failure.

Internet coverage is never a problem because i always upload the files when i'm at home or in a place that provides free wifi hotspots, most of my files are backed up on the hard drives but i also upload some of personal files to the cloud such as photos and videos which have important memories for me to avoid any possible data loss due to my hard drives being damaged or corrupted.

When you use iXpand flash drive from SanDisk on iPhone you don't need mess around with any cable, adapter or dongle because it has both lightning and USB A on the flash drive.
If you don't understand what i'm talking about please educate yourself by using google search and type "SanDisk iXpand".

If they do that they should bump the storage capacity for each plan. Im already paying for 100Gb and right now that is enough because pictures are ot included in the overal storage, but if that happens, the storage will be full quite fast, and there are cheaper ones that give you more storage (dropbox, and so on...)

Switch to iCloud then for 5gb free. You win some you lose some. 15 is bigger than 5.

Anonymous, 12 Nov 2020External storage is supposed to be for storage only. Your ... moreWhy would one need extreme speeds on a micro SD card? I am sure no one installs games on it, just save pictures and videos. I am very happy with my Samsung S20 having a micro SD card. I use the same one since four years, no problems. Of course, I backup from time to time on my laptop and on an external HDD.

I've used Google Photos since March 2019 and I counted how many items I've uploaded. To my surprise, it was around 97,410 across 196 albums. I don't know how many videos or storage my uploads have taken, maybe 100GB+? A bulk of the items are just artworks I download from art sites. Recently, I uploaded my gaming videos which I recorded from my phone and that takes A LOT of storage. Unlimited storage for high quality photos and "videos" is the only reason why I used it in the first place. I use an external HDD as my main backup while Google Photos as a secondary backup and it's been very convenient, being able to look at my items across multiple devices and no hassling through cables. Although photos don't take up a lot of storage, I might stop uploading after 1/6/2021. Youtube will replace Google Photos as an unlimited video storage. It's good that Google doesn't end it hastily or else I'd be upset.

YUKI93, 12 Nov 2020And yet some critics wonder why we even need a microSD card... moreI also never upload my photos on Google server or any cloud. I mean, Google already knows enough about me, I don't want them being able to access my photos whenever they want. I love Samsung for offering still SD cards, this way I am able to keep all my precious pictures in my phone, mega quick access. One good reason to not switch to iPhone, 512GB storage phones are really overpriced.

GPhotos was tool for keeping people's loyality to Google. For me it was the last service provided by google that I used. Others are too bad to use now. Even search is mostly irrelevant to my needs. Try to find something you need at Youtube. Slow working Docs and Sheets. Keep? Uutdated from ancient 2000x. Translate is bad too. Maps is useless disaster. Even android is a mess. There are no designers there. Just Indian outsorces. So Huawei without google apps and services didn't lose anything.
