MediaTek MT6893's single-core performance higher than Dimensity 1000+

It will still be at mid-range prices.

Having two Cortex X1s would be so bad in terrms of thermal performance, unless you limit both of them at just around 1.5GHz, in which they'd be just as good as two normal Cortex A78. You'd need cooling fans inside laptops to maintain tolerable sustained performance when you have that configuration, and bear with the amount of noise that those cooling fans create.

As, for Mali G78 MP24, it was already a proven fact that it is simply inefficient. Mate 40 Pro's benchmark results of that configuration shows that it cannot sustain that performance for long, so Huawei used a trick by alternating the performance from peak to worst, then picks up again to peak, then lowers down again to lowest levels, and so and and so forth. That technique would cause fluctuations in frame rates when playing games.
Comparing it to the Adreno 650 of the SD865/865+, which is ever-so-slightly weaker in performance, but outclasses the G78 MP24 by far in sustainability and consistency of performance.
Not even 5nm architechture could make it perform consistently without causing too much heat.
It is exactly one of the reasons why Qualcomm is still the top pick for high-end processors for Android. Expensive as you will say, at least they deliver the best possible performance in a very practical and usable way.
Trying so hard to beat them, others just went nuts by maximizing the power of the Mali G78 but failed horribly from the side effects of doing it.

Because of how coding is done, it's hard for most programs to run on more than one CPU core, so programmers just don't bother for a lot of things.

Many workloads give the CPU a bunch of code at the same time, so your CPU wants to do it as fast as possible to reduce load times and such. Because a lot of it only runs on a single core, you want that core to be as fast as possible.

Benchmarks are meant to represent workloads but be easier to measure, so anything representative of things like web browsing, most games etc. should be on a single core.

I watered a lot of that down, sorry

Breaking news: next year's chipset with A78 cores performs better than this year's with A77 cores. It is rumoured the chipset, which has the same core hierarchy, will aim for the same price point.

We don't know how Qualcomm will respond, but it's possible they will release a new chipset in the next 12 months. We have reports saying it might be called 775, or even 875, maybe possibly. We aren't sure how they'd improve on their A77 designs though.

I got my note 5 ai dual cam trough aliexpress for 170 euro over 2 years ago. And i dont care for the warranty. Phone have lasted over 2 years for me and i am happy with it. If it broke now then it have done it's job well for the 170 euro. Next phone for me be up to 200 that will satisfy next 2-3 years. From this price point everything is extra like how much updates it gets so i go for better specs for lower cost. And OS skin dont matter for me too as it is what makes it special for a brand name. Back when Nokia was Nokia i bought them cause there was like eericsson or motorola as competition and Nokia is like big brother country for me. I bough them cause they were different even with symbian. Then i like them a lot when they were with windows. But now under HDM they are just like any other Asian phone with low specs high price just for pure android that dont make Nokia feel like different or special. And up to 200 euro i have nothing to look from Nokia list when competition have up to 300 euro range hardware in that price that would be for Nokia

As if Qualcomm will be standing still anyway, the next Adreno found inside the upcoming SD875 would once again be ahead of the flagship Mali G78 graphics that most other chipmakers will be using in their high-end SoCs, even if they maximize the core count, and we're not yet talking about thermal throttling just yet.
Clearly Qualcomm is ahead of the pack in the graphics department, and it's basically just Samsung's partnership with AMD where we can hope that they'd finally have their worthy competitor. Adreno GPUs were derived from AMD graphics as well after all, so we can expect better competition in the GPU by 2022 instead.

Hopefully it's a cheaper alternative for snapdragon 875 in 2021...

This comparison isn't fair, it's Geekbench 4.0 vs 4.4, I've already ran both versions on my phone and Geekbench 4.0 always gives 300 points more in single core and 400 points less in multi core score compared to 4.4.

You only have to put the maximum number of cores. G77mp16 should beat Adreno on SD865 without any problem

                                      The questions are :
                                      - at what price?

Even Samsung realized that and made the call to switch to AMD GPUs in 2021.
