Snapdragon 875 in Galaxy S21 benchmarked, but the Exynos 2100 might be the one to have

17 November 2020
The SD875-powered phone has a 3,375 multi-core score, reports are the CPU on the Exynos 2100 could get that to 4,000.

Jaeger, 17 Nov 2020For all the Exynos haters, if AMD could turn things around ... moreSD875 chips will be manufactured by Samsung.
So it won't be impossible for them to make their home grown Exynos chips perform better.

The newer versions of GeekBench have a tendency to lower scores compared to previous versions.
Still this is better than the baseline of Core i3-8100.

I don't care if the new exynos 2100 is more powerful or not. The only thing that matters to me is battery. It would be a shame if the battery life in the exynos variants is not at least equal or better than the snapdragon ones.

Camera has been traditionally better on Exynos version as well.

For all the Exynos haters, if AMD could turn things around against Intel, why Samsung can't?

AMD had been in the shadows of Intel for a long time. Then, in came the Ryzen CPUs, and took Intel by surprise. Why Samsung can't do the same and take Qualcomm by surprise?

              Only time will tell.

Sponge, 17 Nov 2020Agreed, I reckon we will see the Exynos 2100 be more power ... moreSnapdragon is just better to find the sweet spot that balance between the power and efficiency that other processors makers fail to acheive even bionic a14 throttels. The software optimization and the balance between the power is efficiency is so accurate in snapdragon.I think packaging of the processor(Cpu,gpu, isp, dsp, modem etc)is one of the best in snapdragon

Samsung hasn't been able to produce a decent flagship SOC for a few years and this one will be no different. Expect last year Snapdragon's performance paired with twice the power consumption of SD875.

Let the pieces actually come out first and we can see for ourselves, talk is cheap.

As for anyone who is giving this leak so much credit, even IF this leak is not bogus then there is a mighty difference between burst/peak and sustained workload benchmarks. It is a joke if a chip scores highly against the competition for 2 to 3 seconds max, when overjuiced to dangerous levels in some synthetic benchmark and then throttle down to another tier when pushed for more than 3 seconds.

This company has no credibility when it comes to Exynos, would be nice if they actually pulled a rabbit out of the hat this time, but don't get hyped by marketing spiel so easily without conclusive proof.

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2020Ice universe and others have said the new Exynos is better ... moreIt's nonsense to have both at the same time while using the same exact configuration in the CPU.
Exynos gets the performance advantage while Snapdragon gets the efficiency lead.
Both will be manufactured at the same Samsung's own 5nm fabrication process, so there'e absolutely no way the Exynos will be superior on both, unless Samsung have done something on the Snapdragon variant of the S21 to make it look worse than it really is.
Again, optimizations do have something to play here, as early benchmark scores are often inaccurate, and the true potential of SoCs is only seen once they are already on a retail phone.
But this match is definitely a give-and-take approach on both sides. Samsung just prioritized more power over efficiency gains while Qualcomm did the opposite. Which one is better is already up to the user's choice, and I'm glad that we're no longer going to get scammed by spending the same amount of money on an inferior SoC.
