what about me?

Google allow other app store to exist while iOS only allow one and that is their own. It's not *ahem* apple to apple comparison.

Aflal, 19 Nov 2020Even Google charges same 30%. Then is the Google also greed... moreCharging 30% is huge for any developer. Ios is closed environment. You cannot download app api's or any other market place that work on ios, making apps for ios customer means going through app store. In android we have other market place or app stores you can download get same or similar apps, you can even download api an app and start using . If you dont want to incur 30% on play store, you can chose the other options.

But yes google and apple charging 30% is unfair, theg are using thier monopoly in the market to their advantage.

If they really wanted to help small developers they'd consider graduating the fees. 15% on the first million, 30% after.

Otherwise you can end up with a business that does 1.1. million in revenue (770k net) and ends up being less profitable than one that brought in 950k (807k net).

On Android one can install a proper firewall and take care of privacy & security unlike restricted iOS where all your data is being sent via system app or regular apps.
Android allows user security in their own hands, iOS does not.

Plus on devices with color OS, you have protection features where empty list of contacts, calls, other data, etc is sent to apps like truecaller, payment apps which need permession to these for working, etc.

Also so many Android skins have feature called as second space to give you two profiles on the OS thereby protecting your personal data when you hand over your phone to someone.

Credit Card companies charged less than 5% ... they incurred larger operational costs.
                      They are still profitable.

                      Apple are just being greedy.

Google on the other hand has less restrictions when it comes to app development. So when it comes to spywares and malwares. Android has tons of it. If you search on playstore about anti-virus app. There are tons of them. Appstore doesn't have this kind of problem.
Try using a NORootFirewall app and run it. You'll find a lot of logs that has AMAZONAWS.

Surprising move, they really shouldn't have done this. They are more than entitled to the full 30% from all the devs for providing the platform for them to sell their products.

This is a good step in the right direction, Apple does something right for once
