Apple agrees to pay $113 million to settle "batterygate" lawsuits

19 November 2020
This is on top of the up to $500 million that it has to pay after settling the class-action lawsuit for the same issue - throttling some older iPhones.

Plenty of phones barring the popular ones don't have custom ROM support, but they do have root. That Root can remove unnecessary bloatware and system apps, along with greenify will make your phone super fast.

Still waiting for my money, lol crazy to see how many devices I have purchased from apple during that time frame.

Many oems do this to ensure sales especially Samsung Xiaomi but at least you can escape this by installing a custom ROM like LineageOS with Android phones. Throttlegate was silently implemented not only for battery care but also to cover up for faulty batches of iphone 6 series batteries. Reddit found out so Apple said sorry. Well, only sorry lol.

Apple's PR campaign was in full swing to convince users that batterygate was nothing to worry about.

They were clearly ordered to make a webpage to create further transparency with users.
"Apple also has to create a website that will make it explicitly clear if an iOS update will affect the phone’s battery and performance".

For a multi trillion company like Apple a 113 millions is like 113 1 eurocents in other words is nothing.
They should fine them with a fine 100 times higher.

There should be an intensive investigation pertaining to whether this problem is specific to a specific line of iPhones only or every iPhone that is manufactured these days, since throttling seems to be a common problem in all iPhones
