It was actually a cool feature. Too bad communication around it was non existent and users had no control over it initially. If they did that and no one would really complain about it.

Ali Othman, 19 Nov 2020Apple fans: ios is good for 6 years updates. updates: redu... moreI know I’m falling right into your trap but as a 6s user I will trade a little performance for a little battery life without a second thought. The 14nm A9 simply cannot run even moderate cpu intensive tasks without overheating and the battery level dropping right before my eyes.

This is sad. Apple did this to enhance user experience, with a bad battery, the iphone start to get so slow and have a bad battery life that it looks like an android phone.
Millions of dollars in research to enhance user experience just to get this unfair lawsuit.
This is why we don't get all the nice things. This cripples the genius minds behind the iphone research and development because they will get afraid of enhancing and reinventing things.

Apple made 64 000 million profit in 2019 alone. 113 million is paltry sum to them. I'm sure they paid more to their lawyers.

Lol 113 million is nothing for apple. They probably thought it’s worth the fight and just gave in.
