If it is 21:9 a 5.5" display is only 55mm wide, so the device could be less than 65mm wide. (5.5"*3/√58)
(But in the very unlikely event of it being 16:9 a 5.5" display is 68½mm wide, and thus not compact)

5 more years, 6.5-inch screen will be compact, and stanard is 7.5-inch, and plus size is 8.5-inch
