Report: the Huawei P50 will use Kirin 9000 chips, Samsung and LG OLED displays

23 November 2020
There were doubts whether Huawei will have sufficient supply of the flagship Kirin chip. Indeed, it was unclear if the P50 will launch at all.

Anonymous, 23 Nov 2020LOL he really left a lasting image on you didn't he ;)Nah. He kept annoying me back then, and now it's my turn. Haha

It's just friendly banter though. Nothing hostile here.

DexterHR, 23 Nov 2020Yeah, but SD got license for 4G chips only. And that's... moreThey can use an external 5G modem for the 5G models exclusively.

Besides, 5G coverage & stability at this point is still in it's infancy. It's not really the most sought after feature at the moment.

Those are some good news overall. Hope it will get Huawei some time untill Biden gets things back to normal. At least I hope it will.

BTW, there was a guy who kept arguing with me about how Qualcomm is not gonna supply Huawei with their chips, and that the reports from China were fake...

Well, Qualcomm themselves recently confirmed that the reports were right after all: https://www.gsmarena.com/qualcomm_confirms_that_it_can_now_supply_huawei-news-46282.php

I'm only sharing this here because that guy kept denying it & arguing with me in a condescending tone. I just hope that guy will mature up after this incident.

Wow, Kirin 9000 have 3.5Billion more transistors than A14 Bionic.

Seeing how they stockpiled the Kirin 9000 chips, it makes sense to put them to good use on their flagship lineup exclusively. If they run out of the chips, they can start using Snapdragon or Dimensity chips on newer batches of the devices.

Unless TSMC can get a license to make more chips for Huawei in the near future, we'll be seeing Huawei flagships with SD/MTK chips soon enough.

How so when mate 40 series isn't widely avaible even in china ? How many chipsets do they have ?
