MacOS is too handicapped to unlock full potential of M1 chip.
Now if it was Windows running on M1 chip, I'd be interested to compare it with Ryzen laptop chips.
The moment people hear an OS they are not familiar with (like MacOS), they turn their attention towards buying a proper Windows laptop which destroys any MacBook, based on Software alone.

People are really confused about Apple as a company. Apple is a service based company, and not a tech company as many of you believe. Despite being the most expensive company they totally lack tech knowledge and perspective. They usually wait others to innovate and some 4-5 years later when the tech is mature just build a business model around it. In the world ot technology 4-5 years are eternity. Each time Apple steps in there is a little dark age of technology because they put all their weight to influence the market. All other companies are forced to compete with profits, and not with technology. Apple is the single most harmful player for tech innovation as it always holds it back for years. Just look at how we are stuck with the absurdity of notches.

Just a baseless rough guess of mine. iPad Pro will use A14X (8 cores version of A14?). iMac, and Mac Pro (and probably MBP 16") use M1X (12 cores version of M1 according to the previous rumor?). That is if Apple wants to stick with its general naming scheme.

iPad Pro 2020 is using old iPad Pro 2018 SOC... so no surprise M1 is a lot faster.
When the new... real new... iPad Pro comes out - probably with A14x, the performance of iPad Pro will be the same as M1 or even better.

Wily2020, 24 Nov 2020Of course they are stupid because iPhone wins :D but again ... moreLol i can show other speed tests where snapdragon 865 devices won and instead of using this you could have used speedtestg where a14 crashed snapdragon and aside from it finished first the gpu is far better ( 50fps vs 38fps i think ) but bad throttling system is what hold a14 back but why do think this speed test makes difference in real world usuage unlike HRR which you described it as useless feature ?

Let’s not forget 11 Pro was already faster than Note 20 ultra (except the second round which is memory test) now it can best Androids even in that. So yes atleast generation ahead, might be two, but that we will know next year

Apple has the money to buy the brightest minds for them to excel in these fields I just cant afford them, M1 is the beast, stick to my Xiaomi note 9 pro for now. :)

Mac OS is really nice on it, battery life is great as is performance. It really has no competition, unless you must use Windows for specific purposes, in which case your life sucks.
