Must be poor image processing optimization
But the sensors are very much capable to capture excellent
Low light/night photos.Just use gcam as the OnePlus 8/8pro comes with Level 3 support in cam2probe

LOL it's clear you don't own a OnePlus 8 pro.
I am not talking about the OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8T. You must have tested those phones, which are still good compared to 2019 flagships but not as good as 2020 flagships in nighttime photography.

iOS.Never.Again, 01 Dec 2020Lol.. Do you even own a OnePlus 8 pro? Oneplus definitely sucks at nighttime, the nightscape only captures at 2 seconds max, very little light gets into the sensor unlike other 6 seconds nightmode

The main cam (IMX 689) matches up to all other 2020 flagships with others like Huawei having a marginal edge at best.
The Ultrawide with AF is actually the best in the industry. Huawei might have slightly better image quality but misses out on wider FOV.
The telephoto is average at best, I agree.
But the good news is that there is a fully functional gcam that works on all lenses.
I use the gcam on telephoto lens at night. It's way better than the iPhone.

Lol, Idk why everybody is complaining about a camera... The bigger the better. It means better lense/sensor size, which means better low-light. They are trying to replace mirrorless cameras and pixel-bining eis only goes so far. Get used to the big cameras on flagships. If you want a pretty little baby phone for looks get a iphone mini.

I think OP has really lost its way. Everything looks like they are just trying to copy samsung. At least the non-pro appears to have not gone with curved edges, but the off center hole punch camera annoys my for several reasons. The centered teardrop looked great and disrupted less screen real estate.
Looks aside, their massive tease with the Nord (which they decided not to release in America) was a big let down to much of their audience. So much hype for a product I can't even purchase. I could purchase from an oversees market, but for reasons I can't remember OnePlus specifically recommended against doing that.
If screen to body ratio is as important as every manufacturer seems to consider it, why not stick with the pop up selfie camera? I thought it was a great design that could have really lead the way. Now, I can only find it (in the American market) on the motorola fusion+. I think it's available on several chinese phones that aren't officially for sale in America.
Long story short, OnePlus used to be a leader, but now they follow Samsung to the depths of stupidity. And this is coming from someone that loves and still uses a OnePlus 7T for a main phone with a 5T secondary for a work number.
