Cost, over millions of Xiaomi units in their range, less than a $1. Filmic aren't even in charge of the firmware and camera support, otherwise they could do most all of what I outlined. It pays to know. What gives you guys right to just jump over reason?

Now, ok, Sony light have put in an effort, but Don't hasn't put in the effort to make it great. They still will charge you a lot more fur a little more that could be on the phone. Trust it! And all this extra optional performance, makes significant difference to final product on a big screen. We aren't talking about toy vosiyjn here, we are talking about what you would use at a wedding as a friend, or professionally. The smoke and mirrors video performance most models have with innapropriate rendering in preset modes to keep performance off enough to make people but pro equipment, is just not great. Look at the low dxo scores for video compared to stills, even my cheap Chinese micro pocket phone has more control in video mode than my kid range flagship. Stills is great, but if they want to feature enrich cavers features, the video section is the section left. The processing power is there, so it's mainly software updates.

Atomised over every model, those features are less than $1 worth, it's mainly software code adjustments, and some firmware code. You can buy a better pro cinema camera for similar money, and the low volume parts style and rate they are made for, is actually expensive. Then buy a cheap phone that has android functionality and the same sized screen.

Expensive phones are designed for the gullible. They tell you this is their American presidential style genius best ever model that's worth a lot, and people line to pay. But anybody that actually knows it's just what is called in marketing, stratification. You pay a lot more for every little bit extra, and they rub their hands. That is real life.

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2020Let's be real. Will it finally offer pro level video ... moreXiaomi's video capabilities are pretty good. Not to the extremely high expectations you have, that actually "means something" to you, and not at the Apple or Sony level, but it's still great.

You want a good video phone? Buy from the Xperia line. You'd get all the pro features you're asking for at a reasonable price, but with some compromises to the image quality and other specs.

But asking Xiaomi for that would drive up the $700/$800 price to well over $1,000, and most people would no longer be able to buy their phones.

Anonymous, 01 Dec 2020You aren't important. We have an industry that pushes... moreThe person replied to the original statement, which asked for the phone to offer:

'A pro level video mode, with ssd recording at high bit rate and 8k/4k/2kp50 4:2:2 12 bit+ h266/ProRes and intra film frames containered dng with meta data with more reliable stills version of 4:2:2, and everything dynamically settable and adjustable, like in photo mode? Capability in 2k, 4k, and 8k.'

Most phones focus on either photography or video, not both. Apple and Sony are the only two that have both good image quality and video recording - but they compromise with only 12 megapixels. Sony's Xperia line has the Cinema Pro software the OP is looking for, but offering a pro video experience is a premium. Are those phones worth $950-$1,050? Absolutely not. Maybe more like $650-$800.

Xiaomi is exceptional in the image quality department and they offer a good video experience. But for them to make the kind of pro video mode that guy was asking for would make the phone ultra high-end and no longer affordable... unless someone made a Cinema Pro port.

Those expectations are simply unreasonable. And no normal person would bash an excellent camera phone for not matching those ridiculously high expectations.

Why don't you say something important, rather than being unimportant, putting random unasked for input in.

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2020Xiaomi has poor support, so other than the Mi Note discount... moreNot sure which Xiaomi model you are using or have used, but my Mi 9 (6/64 Global, Malaysian set) been getting steady updates in the 1 year I am using it. Sure, sometimes the security update took 2 months but never 3 months like you said. There are some small bugs here and there, but usually got rectified in subsequent updates.

Regarding the Mi 11, I will only get it if it has under display front camera. I reckon the Mi 9 can last me through 2021, my main complaint is the small battery compared to 4000+ in newer flagships.

Xiaomi has poor support, so other than the Mi Note discounted price, none of their 108mp models are worth buying for the prices asked. There is a reason why Apple sells so well and why it makes money. Xiaomi can barely get security updates out, with three-month delays. And its camera software overprocesses and smoothes skin so everything looks like you are on shrooms.

Also, why do people keep insisting on glass-backed phones? Plastic is lightweight, not slippery, feels great, durable, doesn't catch fingerprints, weatherproof, conducts signals well, conducts heat well too.
