vivo with Snapdragon 888 does early Geekbench 5 test

The phone runs Android 11 - OriginOS, probably - and has 12GB of RAM.

Now you give the 'concrete evidence' that majority of androids run on higher resolution. Higher screen res doesnt mean it runs at that res.

By your logic, Benchmarks and testing from Anandtech is also anecdotal.
Either ways Anandtech is super biased towards Greedy fruit logo company.

Which is better for you personally maybe, but you speak for nobody else. Neither are you any kind of authority on the matter.

And these real world tests are nothing more than anecdotes. This article concerns Geekbench test results, so Geekbench test results are what are being discussed.

Doum, 04 Dec 2020have a concrete and comparable example? Knowing that a hug... moreWhat is the use of Raw power in benchmarks when the cpu can't even push frames beyond 60fps due to lack of higher refresh rate screen.

And some people still think A14 is better... Better in what? On paper?
Are we suppose to live in some therotical world where "A14 would be able to produce more fps if it had higher refresh rate" ??

Anonymous, 04 Dec 2020Well I can consider their findings or your ramblings, yeah ... moreAnandtech's findings are pure therotical, far from real world representation.
For example, a processor might be excellent in raw power but if it isn't coupled with good cooling, it won't perform to its potential. If it is running on unoptimized software, it won't reach its full potential. Analysing architecture and stating "which processor is better on paper" is completely different from testing it out in real world with real world factors involved.

Whatever I mentioned about A14 getting beat and throttling in heavy games is verified by real world tests not some irrelevant benchmark.

If I loved everything about Android, I wouldn't be criticising the Pixel series or the lackluster performance of Exynos 990.

If iOS was better than Android, I'd say so, but unfortunately it isn't. Get that in your head!!!No amount of ramblings from your side is going to change those facts.

I see read them as very much impartial and willing to critique Apple products where due, think your problem mainly is that such reviews don’t end with ‘Everything Apple sucks, and you should all buy Androids’ which is what the vast majority of comments sections on this site boil down to.

I do remember Androids fans (I was one myself back then) being all over the removable battery thing, right up until it started happening on Android devices, suddenly that all went away. And that’s not the only example of that kind of behaviour.

It’s happening right now with the removal of the charger, Android oem’s will soon follow suit, and android fans will suddenly go very quiet on the issue.

Oh and before you start accusing them of bias, just because they don’t share you point of view, consider that you don’t come across as impartial in any way.

I’ll agree in that synthetic benchmarks never tell the whole story, and performance ultimately depends on a plethora of factors.

But with you it always boils down to just a ‘I hate anything Apple, and love everything android’ argument, which is hardly anything new or original for these comments sections.

So I have been able to test all of them and let me tell you something. The overall performance of the iphone is better because how optimized is the software for the hardware but even like that i can play the same game at the same fps for longer periods of time with the Snapdragon. And believe me, i just got the iphone 12 for my wife and I can play the same games at the same fps and even higher ( for more at 90 fps) with a generation old gpu.

The Kirin 9000 in the Mate 40 has a equal multi core benchmark. Kinda underwhelming. Before, Qualcomm had the edge in the Android world. Now, they're just as good as HiSilicon.

One think is metal and another thing is how powerful is the GPU or CPU. Now the Adreno 640 is almost a terraflop gpu. The problem is not the Adreno 640 is android. One thing is how optimized is the software and another thing is how powerful is the hardware.

Everything else that chong liu tested had no trouble maintaining near 60 on a14, though it was just for 10 minutes, while genshin dropped hard after 2 minutes.

"Paper benchmarks don't matter, real world usage does" - thats pretty much what i said, by mentioning gaming tests.

A14 throttles, but for the first 8 minutes of genshin, it actually does perform better, compared to mi10t pro. No idea how it performs after that though. The rog phone 3 does really well even after 20 minutes. 888 looks like it will atleast match a14 with that 35% improvement. And will maintain it better cus pretty much every android flagship has better cooling than iphones.

Huawei gpu just has big scores, its worse in efficiency than normal adreno 650. Though its better than the oc adreno in 865+. But then again only the note 20 ultra sucks, rog phone has enough cooling to keep its fps.

A14 was beat by ROG 3(SD 865+) in speed tests and matched in performance by Kirin 9000.
Heavy games lag on iPhone 12 series.
IOS still remains handicapped enough to not take advantage of any of that power.

You should not really call any review by Anandtech of Apple products as reviews. They are homages paid to their shrine. This is a ritual with them..

Anand's love for Apple was in full display during his review days.
His facts were mostly correct but the choice of facts and their interpretation were questionable.
The most clear example of his bias was when after tons of readers complained that Anandtech totally disregarded the importance of replaceable batteries and support for memory cards in favor of aluminum cases (i.e. form over function) Anand and his buddy Brian Klug published highly questionable editorial titled Post about removable storage, removable batteries and smartphones.
This post was soundly criticized by readers. Soon after Brian Klug joined Apple now followed by Anand. It is clear that the two people who were in charge of reviewing Apple products at Anandtech for a few years suddenly abandoned their blogger careers and joined Apple.
This does remind me of the politicians joining lobbying firms after leaving congress. Nothing illegal. Just does not smell right.

Paper benchmarks don't matter, real world usage does.
In addition to it, there is no high refresh rate to take advantage of powerful CPU.
Snapdragon 875 will bury the A14 & Kirin 9000 alive.
