I got my iphone and i was paying for it around ¥2,500 yen excluding the service. So i pay for about ¥8,000 every month for it. Promos for some contracts were extremely rare, could get it for free if the handsets are new.

Microsoft already said they guaranteed at least 18 months for WP8 phones. They changed in WP7 the ancient Windows CE kernel to WP8 with Windows NT kernel that is being used in Windows desktop. All the current Windows Phone 7.5 will get 7.8, none will be left out. In fact you can update any WP7 to Mango or Tango easily with the cab sender program, download your rom (or .cab file) straight from Microsoft server and update yourself. Yes the official Microsoft Windows Phone rom works on any phone. Try that on Android, flash a Google or Nexus rom to another different Android phone, nope it doesn't work that way on android. Android is very fragmented in the SoC and graphics chips they use. Windows Phone 8 will use the same Snapdragon SoC on all phones. So I think software updates will be very easy like on WP7. They could send out one rom file and it will work on all WP8 phones.

Nokia would beat Samsung in hardware if they were both using same OS (eg. Windows Phone 8). Nokia would win in most categories.
Build Quality = Nokia
Signal Reception = Nokia
Call Quality = Nokia
Camera = Nokia (PureView + RichAudio)
Screen = I'll give it to Samsung right now since WP7 can't do high resolution yet. Nokia does have Clearblack technology that does give them screens with best outdoor visibility. Couple sites already tested that.
Sound quality through headphone jack = Samsung (Wolfson audio chips)

I was a hardcore fan of nokia. But last year I moved from Nokia to Samsung hoping that Android will be cool as it looks. But after 1 and half years of usage Now I am thinking back to Nokia and want to test wp8 to see if they can regain their lost glory. I really find nothing but lots of problem in Android.If they fail( I hope not) than may be I will buy I phone but it is my last choice.y

Android man, 17 Aug 2012dont get me wrong the windows phone are good. but there not... morei actually replaced my iPhone4 after 6months of use because of some boring reasons. and SOME android users feel the same way that i do. well, honestly your android can't give you the FULL smartphone experience because it's camera is a waste. regardless of the OS and apps, shouldn't you consider the other specs? you fandroids always utter "NOKIA/WP SUCKS",, but actually you guys suck more than Nokia does.

will leave for Australia in a couple of weeks. i've considered buying an S3 or the upcoming iP5. my brother told me that the S3 is given for free (w/ a contract of course) in London which actually surprised me. having in my mind that the new Nokia WP8 device will be announce on Oct which definitely a waste of time. but now, knowing that it'll be announced on sept 5th, i really should wait for it. if the specs satisfies me, it's worth the wait then.
what bothers me is that, i previously owned an iP4 (now an N9) which i used in communicating with my friend in Japan (thru viber and whatsapp--w/c can be found only in iOS and android). so if i would go with Nokia, maybe i'll just buy an iPod touch which i could use for music and the iOS/Android apps that i badly need.:))
if i would buy another smartphone, definitely i would go for the device which will satisfy my needs, basic needs actually like good signal and voice reception, camera of course, and i heard i could also use MS office on a WP device (which i could surely use in my work). isn't that great? all-in-one features which could be found only in Nokia.:) kudos.

dont get me wrong the windows phone are good. but there not groundbreaking. i like the way windows 7.5 got dumped. winmo 8 on the way. so give 6 months it will be winm9 and 8 will be dead. at least the android can update. and you dont need to buy a need handset every 6 months like with windows.

Just slower animations. By the way, My windows phones always have some sort lag. All my smart phones have had lag. Only time I do notice lag in android is when apps are updating.

In July 2011 APPLE conceeded defeat to NOKIA (massive court case!!!) in that IOS did breach the NOKIA software patents.
Apple is paying NOKIA royalties for each Apple products that has IOS running on it
APPLE IOS used Nokia patents but now is licensed
RE Android suffice to say that the likelyhood that EACH manufacturer SAMSUNG LG SONY etc that uses Android will eventually also pay Nokia for the running Android as guess what yes NOKIA has the patents.... until they do are NOT yet licenced...oops

look some of us did not go away for good, We tasted the forbidden fruit of Android and liked it.
I have a Samsung Galaxy SII, and NOTHING will make me invest in any phone without expansion.
If the SGSII were Windows, I would have a Windows SGSII. Expansion is my deal breaker
The Lumia 900 is brill it has sold buckets in the US
WP8 brings expansion.. yeah baby
Now i think that this is a BRILLIANT strategic ploy by NOKIA.

If the rumours are to be believed on 12/09/2012 the IP5 will be announced to the world at the same time take pre-orders
I do doubt that the IP5 will come close the SGS III (it won't have USB OTG for starters) and then there is the price
Announce you have a say "Lumia 911?" that now comes with expansion and see how many returnees there are.
More than 4400 I can tell you

Actually cant wait for this, my lumia 800 looks good already, not to mention with a new ui, btw nokia is not only making good phones, its making style, and a large theme, if u dont see it, then u are sucked into the very messy android ui.

It is very true that there are many good phones outthere which are claimed to do miracles, but as I see my N8 still does everything I need from a phone (other than calling) at a very good quality level, browsing, gaming, imaging, file managing, etc. I went to a shop and tried SG-S3, Lumia 900, Htc OneX and Iphone 4S, they are all of exceptional performance, much more than i'd really need daily, so the reason to choose which to buy, it seems to me, it may be some personal preference for the brand, design or dimensions. I will personally go for Nokia WP8.

Not copying the design of that quadcores of touchwiz lag s3.
Funny how the lag is now called an effect now
by users pretending and wishing the lag wasn't there.
Embarrassed that quad overclocked cores and 4.0 still couldn't fix seeing lag in all Android skins running overtop of an issue that even 4.1 still can't fix with a code name "butter" to hi-light an issue that
wont go away... next it'll be project "smooth" after that fails
WP7.5 is lag free with only 1 core idling.

Not even 1 yr old. The sales are increasing at double the rate every quarter. Nokia has way better designs than samsung. Dont believe the fake pictures. Galaxy s3 design is worse than cheap nokia asha 311 ,just check.
