The huge sensor is definitely appreciated. But the stupidly huge pixel count is not. If that sensor is 24mp it would be much much better than those tiny pixels.

Is this just an art for the art sake?
Who is going to appreciate this hyper feature in a normal cellphones? Samsung should push with all force for a rolling screen instead.

Aldwin123, 06 Dec 2020So in theory, 600MP 0.8microns with 3x3 Binning is equal to... moreResolution is big, but what about color resolution in 8K, regular S20 with its 64mp sensor captures way more detail in 8K, with mi10 108mp quad Bayer (similar to 27mp regular Bayer) following.

Maybe lens will be extended, maybe it will come on rollable tech so it doesn't matter with stick being thick or maybe they will use some mirrors to concentrate the light.
Sadly no leaks from Sony, feels like Samsung sensors are taking a lead.

Funny how, even at 600Mp, it still won't be able to zoom like any of the huawei devices.

600 MP could be interesting in a medium format Fujifilm camera or something, but definitely not in something else.

So in theory, 600MP 0.8microns with 3x3 Binning is equal to 66.67MP 2.4microns.
Or if possible, 600MP 0.8microns with 7x7 Binning is equal to 12.24MP 5.6microns

Well a 200mp sensor can be supported with 888
Imagine 9 to 1 200mp sensor 0.7um with 22mp 2.1um, currently 108 can do 27mp with 1.6um or maybe 200mp with 50mp 4 in 1 1.6um which in gossip

anonymous, 05 Dec 2020Meanwhile a Sony A7SIII only need to use a 12MP full frame ... moreIf they use a large 12mp sensor, they will not have what to market next year.
It's all about marketing and showoff, not about our truly needs.

Wouldn't the pixels have to be extremely small since it has 600mp, that would make the readout and af slow af. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be better to have less MP, a bigger sensor, and bigger pixels?

"The ISOCELL 600MP sensor, however, won't be coming soon because Samsung has to solve the issue with the camera bump first." To be brutally honest, I don't care about camera bump. The Nokia 808 PureView and also the Nokia Lumia 1020 proved that hardware physics is still relevant.
That said, 600MP sensor with 0.8µm pixel size? I wonder how many levels of pixel binning would be involved. Also, is it even possible to do a Bayer modifications for 12MP? Because if it's involving direct Bayer modifications like Nonacell or Tetracell, it wouldn't be able to get a perfect 12MP resolution unlike ISOCELL 108MP and 48MP sensor.
