galaxya71user, 10 Dec 2020Not everyone has a pc that is capable of playing games.Oh so they have the hundreds of dollars to blow on a console that they could've spent on a GPU for a PC that would make it capable of running games properly. But not a good PC.

Anonymous, 10 Dec 2020You can already do that for years using the nvidia shield, ... moreLol... What mentality is that? So what if others did it before, does it mean you can't improve upon it? Or have competition even?
Its like saying Oh nooo.. McDonalds are selling burgers and French fries nothing new... And they are good, so STOP everyone, KFC.. Burger King.. you guys are NOT supposed to sell any of those.. you hear??? NO shaker fries you hear!! Not "innovative" enough!

How about internet packages. How much should I pay to play Forza 7 for two consecutive hours a day? Is there any special plan from operators/providers or pay a fortune to play high profile AAA games online via xCloud?

Anonymous, 10 Dec 2020Someone didn't get his dose of cuddles this morning...... moreNo, I'm just pointing out that monopolies don't get it.
Some 3rd party will come and steal their launch because those monopolistic companies simply require too much.
Imagine if Sony were to tell you "you can have your movies anywhere, but first you have to buy our blu ray player and then -of course- buy all the movies you wish to watch".
People prefer Netflix not merely because you can do it everywhere but also because it is way cheaper than owning all the stuff you can view there. Netflix managed to drive deals with content makers so that to make the service more accessible in both costs and interfaces...
Monopolies simply don't do that. They try to let the status quo stay, so they offer a bad product so that they can say "we tried, it did not work", so that they can give up on it and continue on selling their consoles (there is more money there).
Now if you are happy for being played, ok. I'm just less naive than you, I've worked in boards, I know how these people think. They *want* this product to tank, there is a reason that it is so.very.bad.

What's the point of a service that does that, but worse (because it goes through the internet) at an added cost?
This is not new, people merely prefer to play those high calliber games kn high calliber setups and not on their freaking phones.

If you don't have an Xbox, you can still play the games on your phone or PC. You just need to pay $15 a month for the service. If you have an Xbox then most likely you have their subscription to play online or multi-player and won't need to pay another $15 a month for their streaming on phones or PC.

It's now on phone but will come to PC.
Also, the nintendo switch is one of the best seller console for some months now, so who want to be able to play a console game on a handeld device? A lot of people. Just connect an xbox gamepad to your phone, a clip and voila, your own xbox handeld console for just 15$/month.

Al-Aqsa Lover, 09 Dec 2020Impressive ServiceYou basically buy all you'd normally would (games, consoles) + subscription, merely so that to have a lower experience. How's that inpressive?
The equivalent (in movies) would be the need to own a blue ray player *and* the movies you are about to watch before being able to stream through netflix. I mean what would the point be? If Netflix was like that the company would have never become public, it would have closed down a few months after.
Problem with such services is that they do not try to replace the status quo because they *are released* by the status quo. If you want something trully impressive, it would come by a 3rd party, one that does not stand to lose by changing the status quo, one that would offer streaming games with one subscription cost alone (say $20 per month, play any game, anywhere type of deal).
Until then it is is not impressive at all. It is a RIP off. Also who wants to play serious games on their phone, it will take the heart out of them, kill the atmosphere, diminish the immersion...

Unlike Stadia you know this won't be dead in all few years as its just part of the Xbox ecosystem. And it's a much better deal than Stadia.
