ammoled sucks . sony rocks in everything. Samsung uses the cheapest quality raw materials for the phones. Samsung is not good in phone designs . and also they copy other phone like apple and Nokia. samsung is like china phone which is available in local market . and the main thing is its battery life . if they say 10 hrs talk time , that means 10/2 = 5hrs . after 6 months 5/2= 2.5hrs . I am telling you this , because I aready used this shit samsung s2 and it sucks. dont even compare samsung with sony

Good move from Google and Sony!
Consumers will get the best from both worlds.
Fast updates and Sony experience.
They will only have to choose which ROM to install.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2012Where to start. You are as bad a Sony fanatic as Isheep are... moreThe S3's quad-core is nothing to shout about. Yes, it's better than the two year old dual-core in the Xperia S, but the newer gen dual-core s4 is just as powerful and avaiable in cheaper devices, and the newest quad-core (Qualcomm APQ8064) is almost twice as powerful. The Exynos chipset hasn't gotten the best support/compatbility, and even in some basic games there is lag, due to compatibility issues.
For gaming the Tegra platform (which neither of these phones have) has superiority, simply because nVidia does such a good job making games for their platform. Not to mention that just about everyone else always includes Tegra support for heavy duty games.
AMOLED is good - technology wise - but that doesn't mean that every AMOLED screen is better than any LCD screen. The AMOLED panels often have black spots visible in dark scenes/images visible in low-lit rooms and it uses more energy to reproduce white, not to mention that most previous AMOLEDs all have come with the worst factory settings, over saturated beyond anything acceptable. First in ICS did users finally get to adjust this on their own.
The screen in the S3 is the second worst AMOLED screen I've ever seen, only topped by the one in the old Desire (Just as crappy calibrated as the S2, but the horribly visibly honeycomb patterned layoyt of pentile pixels. The SLCD version of the same phone was much better.)
The S3's screen extremely dim. And no, amoled is not good in sunlight, do you not know how the technologies work? You can set a LCD-screen's brightness to the absolute lowest brightness settting and in sunlinght the sun will actually light up the LCD panel instead of the backlight. Not that one would need to since they have twice the brightness level of the S3's screen.
Any screen has light shining out vs light outside, the more bright the lighting is where you are, the worse it is for the screen, especially for the S3 as it's so very dim. I have a slightly better SAMOLED A screen in my phone, and I still miss my old 600 cd/m2 LCD-screen on the brightest days.
Summary:
Xperia S does have a significantly better screen, and this is the main interface with the phone.
MHL looses big to HDMI, and with Sony's TV Launcher, it's even better for the Xperia S.
S3 has more power, but less compatibility and neither phone has the best gaming platform - Tegra.
More power only makes sense if you get to use it.
Neither phone has particularly impressive batteries, which makes them even less exciting for hardcore gaming. RAZR MAXX is still the best overall smartphone, but not for hardcore phone gamers. For them I would say the Optimus 4x is the best choice.
Prices here for Xperia S w/o contract is USD600 and the SII is USD800 w/o contract, so they are technically in different price leagues, and age of course.
The main thing I react to in the Xperia S is the lack of SD card slot. It's got the TV launcher and everything, but depending on use and HD content, this should have been available.
Xperia S will parttake in this AOSP and get quicker updates, very good for the owners of this phone. I wish all Android got the newest version upon release as the as the HW supports it, like we have done in the computer world since the dawn of Linux and Windows. (Exluding Apple since they love to cut support for older HW, even if it's just a year old in the worst case I've seen).

AnonD-38309, 19 Aug 2012Not even near the S3? Are you crazy?
Xperia S has a bett... moreWhere to start. You are as bad a Sony fanatic as Isheep are to Apple....
Now I wouldn't say it's no where near the S3, but S3 is definitely the overall better.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Amoleds kick major butt. Deep blacks, birght or adjustable colors, best under the sun, and lower power consumption. Also sorry , but at retina full RGB or not The Super Amoled screen is very sharp. Not to mention technically all phone screen are not full RGB since Tv's have to have at least 6 sub pixels to be RBG and some have 30 or more.
Just like when I schooled you on the Satio and Pixon 12. Samsung has almost every time produced cams that took higher detailed pics. Check the photo quality yourself. They even rival Nokia...save for the Pureview.
It may be Playstation certified because it's Sony, but the Exynos chip handles play station games drastically better and that's just fact.
Yes it comes with HDMI which is a step over the MHL, but the MHL is better than nothing. The build quality of the Galaxy line and many Samsung's is very adequate regardless of what you would like people to believe.
It does come with a couple more things in package so good for you. And weather you want to hear or not a quad core is useful in ways and more and more things will be optimized better and better for it. You are dumb if you truly believe quad core is 100% useless, not to mention the vastly greater GPU. If you ignore any logic "lol as if you wouldn't" than your troll...reply will be ignored.

Maybe this is the beginning of a new policy of upgrades for Android phones, because manufacturers are to slow with this and this is really bad for Android.
