India is a price competitive market where most people want maximum possible performance for each rupee they spend. Even Dell has priced it's similar laptop less than that (though, it has a polycarbonate body). So, at least in India, this is device has no future, just like Nokia's smartphones

Anonymous, 14 Dec 2020At this point it should be clear how overpriced intel isIt's not Intel, its Nokia/Flipkart who have launched an overpriced product. All other manufacturers like Asus, Acer, Lenovo, MSI provide similarly configured machines at much lower price. In other words, except for Dell and HP, all the manufacturers provide similarly configured devices at much lower price

The laptop was a gift she received, not something she bought for herself. Having said this, looking back, I should have mentioned these facts to start with.

Shadocx, 14 Dec 2020Where I live, ASUS, Acer and Lenovo are selling similar spe... moreConsidering it's an ultrabook at 1.1kg, I think the pricing does make sense but Comet Lake is last gen now, replaced with Tiger Lake. Sure, manufacturers are still selling Comet Lake and Ice Lake but they were launched a long time ago. Then again, Tiger Lake is considerably more expensive than its predecessors. Still, it just seems very odd to me to launch with a last gen chip. If it's AMD, all manufacturers use the current gen.

This competes directly with MSI Modern 14, both AMD and Ryzen versions. Though MSI is 7k cheaper.
Not to forget that many vendors are providing much better for much less price.

The person complains regularly, because it has an AMD chipset, and says they wish they had a laptop with an Intel chipset. I am going to share your commentary here with that person later on today.

Andreidinutu, 14 Dec 2020Because no one else other than gamers like amd. Im fine wit... moreIf people don't do research then they'll stick with Intel forever. People's perception on AMD have changed drastically after Ryzen, AMD has already eaten a significant portion of Intel's market and that doesn't only include gamers. Many people who do demanding work knows that AMD performs better so it's not accurate to say only gamers like AMD. Actually, Intel CPUs are better than AMD for gaming but that has changed with the launch of Zen 3. Integrated GPUs, AMD wins hands down but now the gap is very slim. How the turntables.
If it weren't for AMD, who knows how long Intel will put dual cores on the laptops. Sure, it's enough performance but if there's hardly any improvement on each generation, why even upgrade? Most people don't realise that and end up wasting money. Now we can have a whopping eight cores on an ultrabook, doesn't that sound nice? And ultrabooks are aimed towards students and officer workers. You could game on it but it's not as good as gaming laptops.

Andreidinutu, 14 Dec 2020Because no one else other than gamers like amd. Im fine wit... moreI see that you're back with your intel bootlicking.
Intel had the gaming crown till amd released Zen 3 and this happened very recently.
AMD had the lead in every single department since Zen 2 and a lead in every multi threaded application since Zen 1.
Security? 235+ vulnerabilities in last 18 months or so in intel core processors. (The combined total of vulnerabilities revealed in amd, nvidia, ARM, VIA etc should be less than 50 in the same time period). Many of the vulnerabilities in intel can't even be patched at software level and those that can cause severe loss of performance.
Intel processors run hotter, are less efficient under load (but still more efficient when idle) and costs more (intel tax).
Intel has brainwashed ignorant masses into thinking that the best processors are core i7/i5 even if these ignoramuses are unaware that i7 is a branding that intel uses (people still ask if a phone's processor is faster than intel). This is due to years of canvassing and advertising by intel. It has nothing to do with actual performance.
Gaming has nothing to do with amd. In fact amd processors are still more relevant for content creation and multi threaded applications.
And another thing here as someone pointed out is the fact that they use older intel processors that are terrible in the gpu department unlike the new XE graphics that can somewhat rival the much older vega graphics.
You were the same person who commented about intel has the best processors at the higher end. This is not true either.
Intel fails everywhere except for the lowest end 'Atom' space where they have no x86 competitors right now because amd doesn't design 'cat' cores anymore. (And VIA is not relevant anymore).
So please stop misleading people.
