Why pay "more"?

they should pay as agreed

as of now it is reported that issue is due to middle-man / contractor didn't pass-on the pay to staff, if true, then this is unpleasant incident with Apple, the police / authorities should have intervene before staff got delay and if staff had to protest, that should have been on middle-man / contractor firm... why Apple shall suffer?

    all said and understood. But they could have gone on strike for a week and the matter would have solved. Destroying property in excess of 400 crores is insane. Even if the company inflated, any amount over 100 crore is significant for the state and the country to bear.

        The worker's salary is already low, and the contractor held it for months according to the article, how are the workers and their family supposed to live? So of course, that will lead to riot to demand back what is rightfully belonged to them.

        Let say, can the contractor, or the factory operates for months without any income? They will beg the government for bailout for sure.

            Anonymous, 15 Dec 2020Time to move to Vietnam or Thailand.But they can't. Those factories are there to skirt the crippling tariffs imposed by the Modi government for phones imported into India. They can either choose to exit the Indian Market or put up with rioting locals.
