1. Macro cameras that are 2 MP (a... moreI don't know if I got this correctly but I think macro cameras are supposed to do very close up shots of things like flowers and bugs if that's true then I'm going to try and explain as best as I can as to why the megapixel count is so low.
The more pixels you have on a camera sensor the smaller each pixel gets and the less light each pixel collects as a result of being smaller, you can make up for this by increasing the size of the sensor (this increases cost significantly from what I noticed), so for example if a 1 inch senor has 5 pixels and every pixel is 1cm in size and you decide to make the same sized sensor, with no fancy technical tricks, and with 10 pixels then every pixel would be 0.5cm in size which means each pixel gathers less light because each pixel is now smaller. As I said before you can solve this problem by increasing the size of the sensor so lets say you make the same sensor but you make it a 2 inch sensor instead of 1, now you can have 10 pixels with each being 1cm again and if you only had 5 pixels each would now be 2cm. With that out of the way if you want super zoom without having a giant DSLR/SLR like lens then you'll need to make the sensor smaller, for macro photography on smartphones because of the lack of those giant zoom lenses the sensor ends up having to be very small to achieve the desired close up shots and it ends up being too small to have a decent amount of megapixels without ending up causing static (bad low light performance) on the images it produces as a result of the pixels themselves being too small. In my opinion it's not really a gimmick, it's the compromises they have to make that make it seem that way to you, and in my opinion for some folks who can't or don't want to invest in a dedicated DSLR/SLR + an expensive macro lens kit, it beats not being able to do any macro photography at all.

1. Macro cameras that are 2 MP (a... moreHigh refresh rate displays aren't gimmicks as proven by the iPad Pros, the game comparison videos (Linus Tech Tips made some good ones), slow motion comparisons, and first hand accounts from people who tried high refresh rate displays and went back to what we currently deem normal refresh rate displays (60) to see if they notice a difference.
5G isn't a gimmick either but it's still maturing and for me the Qualcomm X60 5G modem that's finally part of the SoC in the Snapdragon 888 is good enough for now. I don't know enough about 5G to give an educated opinion on it.
