        Compact phones we needed!

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2020Weird. See a lot of glass phones with "spiderman"... moreOr, be responsible and don't drop your phone.

Phones are getting bigger and bigger, is there no stopping that trend??? I understand that some want a phone that is a tablet, but also make a full spec smaller phone. A pocketable phone, that can be used with one hand if necesarry. It's a phone, for God's sake!

Please bring back small phones with flagship specs!

plenty to point out especially the $1K flagships. however, no need to complain since I can buy the most sensible Android phones like those sold by Poco

Worst thing happened was I got a phone without earphone jack.

Stop the madness with huge screen and huge size phones. Make again small and flagship speed phones aka xz1 compact s4 mini, iphone se, lg g2 mini. We no not want to carry a small tv in our pocket. Teenagers want phones with big screen, but we are not all teenagers and we do not need phones for playing games or watching videos. Some of us want fast and small phones for business use.

I voted for all but the option for the plastic chassis, I'm OK on the cheap phones but not on the more premium ones(The Galaxy A series when it was more expensive the models where metal frame and glass back, now my brothers A50 is plastic frame and back.)! So the option should have been plastic shell on expensive phones.
Also I agree with the other who mentioned "No headphone jack on the high-end phones", "The notch, punch hole etc one the display" and "The weird aspect ratios".
Personally I hate the too much rounded corners, the ones on the S20 are a no go for me but the ones on the Note 20 are somewhat OK.

I am still with my beloved S7(Exynos)
                                - Flat 16:9 screen (no notch, rounded corners or edge screen).
                                - Headphone jack
                                - microSD slot
                                - Physical navigation buttons
                                - Nice reasonable size
                                - Looks stunning!

Well I didn't like that they removed the IR blaster that the S6 had, and I was also unlucky cause when I went to buy it(a bit over a year after its release), it was in no stock and I found only the 32GB version which is my main issue now(I have to constantly manually delete the app cache and gallery thumbnail data to make space), I have a microSD card on it, but the apps are the problem, not many but these days they take too much space and I don't want to encrypt the microSD card in order to transfer the compatible app to the microSD, because if the phone breaks the files I have on the card will be technically lost! They should have made the encryption with a kay provided by the user, so if the phone brakes and get a new one, and enter the card, they will get request t enter the password to decrypt the card, a bit like BitLocker.

I will probably wait for the Note that will have the Exynos SoC with the AMD GPU.
And till then, if it's truly going to be in 2023(at first the leaks said 2021, then 2022 and now 2023), till then the under display camera tech will mature and be good!
Samsung along with Sharp own the patent for IGZO-TFT, which in comparison with the current TFT tech they use, it can offer higher power efficiency, make it easier to make high res and high refresh rate panels and it's suitable for see through panels! So till then I guess we will have the quantum dot enhanced amoled panels and if they have IGZO-TFT the better. Also till then, I home they make 5-3nm GAAFET/MBCFET SoCs with the newer more advanced EUV, but I don't think they will find a better working alternative for silicone till then. I have also heard that Samsung started to make EUV based DDR4 RAM sticks for the PCs, so lets hope we get EUV based LPDDR5(and probably LPDDR5X) RAM. I guess storage can be made with EUV as well so maybe EUVed UFS 4? XD

Well sorry for going off topic but I love talking about tech and fantasizing about the future bleeding edge tech! XD

it's funny how smartphone manufacturer praise useless 2 or 5 mp for macro while they also provide bigger sensor from main camera, and what secondary depth camera for? while pixel can shoot 'almost' perfect portrait in just single camera

I really don't get the idea about enormous amount of cameras on phones today. This only increases the price, but for 90% of users they are never used, especially macro cameras. For budget phone better to have 1 camera module but high quality instead of 4 crappy ones.
And tall notched displays hadn't shown any benefits yet to the good old 16:9 with no holes. Also I hope, curved displays are no longer there, and they will copy Apple flat displays.
