The likelihood of such a thing happening is 0.00001%.
So lack of security patches don't affect the end user in the real world.
Ppl and several businesses used Intel chipsets for years without issues despite the Spectre & Meltdown vulnerabilities. As I said, unless a team of hackers specifically target you exploiting that security loophole, you are safe.
Ppl continue to fall for marketing gimmicks where they feel if they don't have the latest security patch, they are vulnerable or worse the phone becomes unusable after 2 years. These are the same people that can be hacked using a simple phising link and they are worried about vulnerabilities in the system that are less likely to be a threat.

This phones is perfect for old people. Two months ago I got pixel 4a for my dad. He uses it for basic things like calling and video chatting with his children and grandchildren. He has also started using google assistant for asking time and weather, setting up reminders and alarm . He loves the fingerprint lock, always on display and media controls on lock screen. He is totally satisfied with this product.

Specifically the security updates and the numbered version updates. These companies are overly customizing their roms ffs without any benefit and ultimately they can't deliver timely updates.

Most of these Android phones don't have too many critical bugs to begin with. This isn't like iOS releases which have tons of bugs upon launch.

Let me guess you are probably using android and if not they your are most likely using Google on a browser based on chromium. The pixels have been a huge success so far, labelled by many people as the best phones in their price category. The only thing you are correct about in your comment is your spelling.

I personally don't understand how people pay $800+ for a phone then wait 4 months for the OEM to release an update. You have individuals who make custom roms in days for free. There is no reason to believe a company like Samsung, Huawei or Xiaomi can't get these updates out within the first month when Google is giving them access long before they release the update. They're simply choosing not to get the updates out in a timely manner because it doesn't make them any additional money.

It's a reasonably sized phone, that does the basics extremely well, with a great camera at a reasonable price. There is nothing not to like about this phone.
