Anonymous, 29 Dec 2020Yes but think of what your getting for that price compared ... moreIt's not about caring for OIS or not. Lack of OIS automatically means much inferior photo and video quality, it's simply laws of physics.

Other company's tool shortcuts that the average smartphone user would care about
Not everyone cares hugely on either ois

Anonymous, 29 Dec 2020What new hardware and features? Sony camera sensors? LG / B... moreSony makes the sensors on Huawei's behalf. Huawei pays them to make custom sensors. Those sensors remain exclusive to Huawei. Hence they're Huawei's personal hardware to brag about. Same goes for the display & SoC.

Other innovations include Ultra-fast charging tech (both wired & wireless), reverse wireless charging, NM cards, advanced Face-ID tech, etc

At the end of the day, they're bringing the best tech to the reach of consumers.

Does the autho realize that Huawei Mate 40 and 40 Pro do not have OIS ? These phones cannot be taken seriously as cameraphones. I really hope they don't fool anyone into buying them. Such expensive devices without OIS is just unheard of and an insult to some unsuspecting customers.

Lack of EIS in 4k/60 and poor EIS in 4k/30 in the ultrawide lens. Weird white balance... No, it's not the best shooter imo.

...or...Honor and Huawei will do all the RnD exchange behind closed doors and blindside the US gov.....above board it all ain't gonna be...

Back when I was still using LG/Samsung/Xiaomi phones, my wife got her first Huawei. Year after year I was still tinkering to keep my stuff updated, fast and get a decent battery life. As the huawei became 1-2 years old, (2-3y since launch) it remained all of those qualities I mentioned, and without doing anything or resetting it and reinstalling it.

Huawei may seem good upon purchase but just wait until it becomes like 3-4y old. That's when it becomes apparent that they've retained a relevance similar ti a lot newer phones out there.

I'm still using my 4 year old Honor and it works great. Never ever have I had 90% original battery capacity 4y into owning a phone. Memory management that doesn't close apps left/right, and an oled screen without noticeable burn in.

Before this phone I basically couldn't stand ownership after 2y. Too slow, crap battery, broken charge port etc. Not this. Bravo!

I see they have their own SoC.
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Leica worked on the periscope zoom.
Where's the Hauwei fan's who were so happy that their 'flagship' phone cost less than Apple or Samsung... the price sure went up when they created flagship level devices it looks like.
