This move shall be protested aggressively, why should phone makers earn more n more profit out of nothing? And in case we agree on the fact that we can rely on old chargers or maybe different chargers, it's absolutely mandatory that all phone makers must comply with every charger available in the market for fast charging. Like there must be a standard according to which every charger will be made and propitiery charging systems like super dart, warp, etc, etc must be BANNED. So one can buy a single charger, say 50w, and should be compatible with every phone on this planet released since the time when the standard is launched.

good luck finding a compatible charger that will deliver the full charging speed.... not only it has to meet the wattage requirement but also the Voltage/Amp characteristics.

Well done Apple and every phone manufacturer that's copying what they did. Now we have to buy a new charger for every new phone we get (esp the Androids which come with like diff charging speed every year)

Considering Xiaomi is now thinking of the planet, do they also plan to stop announcing a new phone every 10 days?
There is zero need for any OEM to have more 6-8 devices per year.

Its not about environment, its always abot profit. If they care about environment, they wouldn't make new models every few months. Why the produced in 2 years from Redmi 5 to Redmi 9,and they have very little difference between them. Its just bullshit talking, nothing more.I used Huawei,i used also Xiaomi, and i will never again use Chinese brand.I consider just Samsung, and Sony,or maybe even Nokia.

Shiny Dave, 26 Dec 2020It feels like Sony have an obvious opening here.
Would i... moreImpossible.
If any OEM produces X phones per month, they are gonna make X chargers per month.
If they produce less chargers, there is a risk they do not have enough to sell.
If they produce X but give option to choose, there is the risk they do not sell all and lose the money spent on them.

Qwerty, 26 Dec 20202021 will be the rise of the mid and upper midrange smartph... morePhones priced between $480-580 do not sell well.
Most buy sub $400 phones or ones that cost over $750.
The so called upper midranges and "flagship killer" are failure as sellers.
Most popular phones sold by Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi are devices that cost less than $280.
LG sells more K series.
Motorola with G and G Play.
Samsung with M series and lower tier from A series.
Google sells more A too.

It feels like Sony have an obvious opening here.
Would it be possible for manufacturers to produce separate boxes with and without a charger, so consumers could choose between the vanilla phone in the smaller box or the bundled charger if they wanted or needed that?
