OnePlus 9 series to miss out on periscope lens, new report claims

That's great! Giving us great ultrawide and main sensor and keeping the price low while not compromising on the display and internals is what was needed.
OnePlus have all had really mediocre periscope lenses so far.
The main cameras all do pretty much 2-2.5x zoom without any loss of details due to the high MP sensors and in good light, they might even pull 3-4x.

    Simply miss on everything why only on periscope lens? Afterall it's still 2021!

      I use main and persicope lense almost always, widelense very rarely and others never.
      I guess they can't satisfy every customer

You pay 1000+ Dollars for 1.1 x optical zoom? This is no other than shame, I am disappointed. Oh and you will have to buy a charger separately, wow, what a wonderful idea!

            Thank you OnePlus! Wide-angle camera and a normal camera is just fine. Why do people need those stalker cameras with 5x zoom or even more? Unnecessary.

                Although a periscope sensor is ideal for new flagships; at the end of the day, end results matter more than the method to achieve them. Maybe OnePlus might go for a hybrid zoom solution to achieve 5x "lossless" zoom. Samsung is already doing that on their S20/S21 series. So it won't be a new thing. So let's wait and see how it goes before we start criticizing it.

                      That's so mean.

                        So another reason to skip another series of phones from OnePlus. I'm sorry but 5x periscope zoom is a MUST, especially on a flagship device. For Christs sake even the Xiaomi Mi 10 YOUTH 5G, which costs less than 300€ has a periscope lens. It's seriously time for manufacturers to stop taking people for fools. First Samsung with their FAKE zoom (1.1x zoom) and now Oneplus 9 series without any zoom at all... Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE.
