Why are people so interested in longer update periods when they change their phones once per 2-3 years? And the ones that do tend to keep their phones for 5 or more years, they do not care about software updates. Or latest phone technologies. They just want a phone that works.
That was my comment about. People wanting something in their phones that will not use or take advantage of.

Average phone holding period has rose significantly in the past few years. The number is closer to 3 now, and is expected to go up further.
3 years from now, updates will matter more than today, which is exactly now when we consider buying for a new phone.

I am curious how many change their phones in 5-6 year time nowadays? Probably not so many, and the ones that they do, they don't even know what software update means.
But, people like to brag about things that their gadgets have or do, but they will never use. Lol.

Ti remember Sammie making a promise to go for longer updates, but until proven, I still take it as 2+1 as Apple has a long track record of performance vs just a promise.

So they sell you a less valuable package and a cheaper phone with less features at the same flagship price and now ohhhh they pretend be generous? With those $50 you don't have enough to compensate the new charger, the AKG earbuds and the case. Even more if you want the memory card. Oh wait now you can't plug your memory car because it's not expandable.
Oh and 1.1x optical zoom... Hahahaha. What are they smoking? Only the most blind of their old fans could buy that plastic junk Lol. Each year worse...
Also worse for them. Customers with brain and at least two neurons will jump to other brand offering a better product at equal price.

The S20 FE is very acceptable because of the lower price point, but the S21 should define premium. Looks like the fruit phone is doing very well. Or maybe some Chinese flagships.

I'm a Galaxy Note user, but if they delete the microSD support for the Note series then I'll be skipping the Note for 2021.

So sick with phones today. There is always something essential missing - charger, headphone jack, good speakers, SD card slot, etc. Really stupid decision to follow Apple. I might as well join the Apple crew and enjoy their 5Y updates than getting a crappy S21 with 2Y updates.

$50.... nice, you can get one phone case from Samsung! Then you still need to add a bit money for screen protector.
