Samsung Z FLip3 should have the same powerful chipset for a lower price range.
That would be a better selling point.

I read before that this year Z Flip series will have 2 variants.... One with 5G and the cost of 1999 and the other with 4G and costing 999.
So the latter might me true then. And considering that they needs to use Exynos and Snapdragon... Is possible to see a SD 855 or a Exynos 9820 phone.

Mid-range chipset without 5G support? I'm guessing either their own Exynos 9611 chipset or Snapdragon 730G. Looks like the Motorola RAZR 5G is still on my wish list.

The thing about samsung is that they probably have higher profit margins for midrange. And you usually end up with less updates than for a high-end. For a similar-specced phone, the value brands are half the price of a samsung.

How much lower? Plastic crease, plastic back, no charger inside the box, no earbuds, no headphone jack, no SD card slot, mid-ranger chipset, fake telephoto cameras and same margin profits for them. So who is the fool? They offering less with the same profits or you still buying and overpriced worse phone? That is...

But, all major Smartphone Flagships need a price correction. But the component proces have been going up pretty high, consistently, and super premium products are often, crossing the $999 price point, atleast any launch.
Also, camera improvements have gotten slower in all smartphones since HDR and night mode became available across all major flagships. And now the only differentiating factor is zoom range, in the camera department. Otherwise, image quality is usually pretty close for all the major players.
Hopefully with staggered HDR (for both photo and video), we see a noticeable improvement in image quality, again.

To me, these "flip phone" style folding phones don't need flagship specs. They need a mid-range processor, decent cameras and good enough battery life. They shouldn't compete with the flagships, like the S20 Ultra, Mate 40 Pro and Mi 10 Pro. They should be targeted to people, that want good specs, with a compact form factor.

The Z Flip is a fashion accessory, so it really doesn't need a flagship SoC. Something like a SD765 would be adequate for it, provided they actually bring the price down from the previous model.
The Z Fold series is work-oriented though, and that should remain with a flagship SoC.

The idea of foldable is great, but the quality of the screen is pretty bad, it will have marks on it in a matter of days... sad because it would have been something more OEM's would consider.

And no. I don't think their putting a midrange chipset and a lower price tag on the next Z flip just because of what the Moto Razr offers and it looks Iike. I mean there is Thome Browne Edition of Z Flip 5G. And Z Flip sell more than the RAZR. Plus looks is subjective.
