Hopefully, the S21 and S21+ will do too.

And I’m also sorry but saying 60hz is pedestrian is such an egotistical thing to say. See my previous comment where I said that 120hz would be a nice option to have, I just wouldn’t use it personally.

At the end of the day I was just sharing my opinion, but obviously everybody has their own :)

1-1.5hr SOT is sacrificed by resolution not HRR.
I downgrade the resolution from Qhd+ to 1080p+ during general usage. I don't downgrade the refresh rate. Why would I go back to pedestrian 60hz??

Look at technick testing SOT of OP8 pro and OP8, hardly 30 min difference for around 8hr SOT which is less than 7%. So folks like you who want to stick to 60hz for your 7% gainz can sit at 60hz until the next decade. I am not downgrading to 60hz.

Still waiting for your proof that high refresh rate displays are bad when the option to dial it down is right there.... As I said previously, you'll suddenly find it a great addition on smartphones ones you use it on your iPhone.
Use a HRR smartphone as a daily driver for a few weeks and then tell me if you don't feel a downgrade when going back to 60hz. HRR on smartphones is way more noticeable than PC because of the touch input itself.

Furiounx, 07 Jan 2021Okay, that’s true. It would be a nice option to have at lea... moreYou can just set it to stay at 60hz then to save battery or keep it in optimized performance mode or battery saver mode... Also the ultra has an adaptive display so your not going to drain as much battery because of the 120 refresh unless your apps are using it, which again if you don't like can be hard set to 60.

I rather have the option to choose whether I want the best display possible or save battery depending on my situation. To not even have the option for a high refresh rate seems primitive in 2021

And yea, I’m an iPhone user now. I used to be an avid android user but made the switch a tad over a month ago. Android may need >60hz to feel fluid but iOS is honestly soooo fluid and aesthetics-based that 60hz makes it feel wonderful. But that obviously doesn’t apply to actual apps like web browsing, games etc. but this is just my opinion at the end of the day 🤷‍♀️

i0S...Never...Again, 07 Jan 20219-9.5hr SOT... Let that sink in!!! That's the same SOT... moreAgain, please read your own comments. 1.5hours of SOT is what you said is sacrificed by 120hz. When I say you sacrifice battery, I’m talking about in contrast to 60hz, not the overall battery life; just clarifying.

But yes, 9.5 hours of SOT is impressive, but you know what’s more impressive? 11 hours SOT. In my opinion, 120hz is redundant on phones because it uses up a limited resource more than usual (being battery). Whereas PCs take what they need; they’re not running on limited resources. I just don’t see why web browsing needs to be silky smooth? But that’s just me.

But yes, 120hz would be a nice option to have on iPhones. I’m just saying that a lot of people would most likely prefer battery life,,,

Let me guess... you must be an iPhone user who is stuck on 60hz. Am I right? 🤔

Again, Where am I sacrificing battery life???

Oh and if someone cares so much about squeezing those extra 30min-1hr SOT, they can always go ahead and dial it back to 60hz in the settings.
Are you still going to say 120hz is bad for battery even though every phone gives the choice to dial it back to 60hz? which nullifies any arguments about "sacrificing battery".

Anonymous, 06 Jan 2021Dude, why are you on your phone so much? What? Where did I say those are my stats in a single day?
That is the average SOT I get from a full charge to 5-10% battery remaining.

And no I won’t change tune, I’ve seen 120hz before and it’s fantastic for PCs by all means but it’s not worth spending extra battery for; for me anyway.

And you're telling me that you don't understand MY point? That was YOUR point that I felt the need to respond to, and now you're trying to make it look like an argument that I made? What the heck???

"Maybe they send the garbage products to North America and keep all the good stuff for China and Europe"
I'm not a fan of any baseless conspiracy theory, sorry. Many Chinese manufacturers don't even sell phones in US with a notable exception of OnePlus, and their products are pretty well received among customers.

"Start a go-fund-me page and send me a phone.."
It's up to you whether you update your perception on Chinese phones and admit that they do make quality and competitive products nowadays (but probably just not for your taste), or cling to an old Chinese-equal-bad argument that no longer holds true in the cutting edge tech industry. But in case you choose the latter, it will be your loss, not mine.

My Galaxy Note 9 feels just as fast as the day I got it, even with One UI 2.5. Just disable the apps you don't need (Facebook and the likes) and it's a rocket.
If you want to dive back a few years, I just pulled my spare Note 4 out and set it up to take time lapse pics over night. Still a great phone with plenty of speed (as dated as it is), just disable the apps that I don't need and good to go.
Same goes for the Galaxy SII that my 6 year old is using. Can't play some of the newer games but still works great. S7, S8... What I'm saying is is that Samsung is worth the dollar everytime and I have yet to have a chinese brand anything electronic last beyond 2 years.
Maybe they send the garbage products to North America and keep all the good stuff for China and Europe, kind of like the Exynos processor is for certain parts of the world while SD is offered elsewhere.
