to be honest, they are only good on paper.. real life usage, still better to go with qualcomm.
have always been hoping one day mediatek can be on par with qualcomm, but seems like always a gap..

At least someone dared to speak truth. Otherwise most of the users have started believing MediaTek as a new AMD

Android Authority, 12 Jan 2021Ohhh you seem like another clown who thinks A14 doesn'... moreur a clown that needs to learn how to read. where do u see me implying that a chipset immediately goes down 25% as soon as it heats up too much, it goes down little by little even u should know that... every chipset does that no matter how powerful u make it or how much cooling u throw at it

AnonD-973296, 12 Jan 2021the reason it reduces down 25-30% is so the phone does not ... moreOhhh you seem like another clown who thinks A14 doesn't throttle. There is another guy RazerJor or whatever who simply doesn't understand throttling.
The A14 throttles (reduces clock speeds to prevent overheating)
It also uses dimming of the screen to prevent overheating.
Every chipset does that? Which one? I did not see Snapdragon 865 losing 25% of its score on Antutu. But Apple A14 did.

Android--Master, 12 Jan 2021How can it be higher tier when its performance reduces by 2... morethe reason it reduces down 25-30% is so the phone does not overheat too much u muppet that is pure basics. EVERY CHIPSET DOES THAT

Sure it might have good efficiency, AI performance, etc.... But overall it falls behind the
SD888 & Exynos 2100.
And who in their right minds wants to use Kirin 9000 based Huawei Flagships outside of China given their current situation.

this is good news to consumers, as mobile companies would have options on what Soc they are able to put on their phones and offer lesser prices. im not going to be suprise if Xiaomi would put their old stock for dimensity 1000 on a 199 usd phone.

AnonD-973296, 11 Jan 2021how is A14 lower tier, it is one of if not the fastest chip... moreHow can it be higher tier when its performance reduces by 25-30% due to thermal throttling?
Besides, Raw numbers are useless as there is nothing in iOS to take advantage of that chip.

Dometalican, 11 Jan 2021I'm brutally excited for these processors. LG Velvet, ... moreThe availability will still be limited because of the limited capacity allocation given to MediaTek by TCMC. Mediatek will prioritize its sale of Dimensity chips to those phone-makers that can drive the 5G smartphone sale. Please forget about HTC, LG, Sony, ASUS, etc.
Did HTC sell any smartphones in 2020?
Did Sony sell more than 2 million phones in 2020?
Did ASUS sell more than 1 million phones in 2020?

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2021why is mediatech always on node behind Snapdragon why can... moreCurrent Dimensity lineup uses 7nm from TSMC...all the lineup including 700 and 720...
Some competitors from Qualcomm, 690, 750G use 8nm from Samsung...
In fact this 8nm is only a 10nm+ in term of transistors per mm2
The same with 5nm...the one from Samsung has nothing to do with TSMC's
TSMC's 7nm : 91MTr/mm2
TSMC's 7nm+ : 110MTr/mm2
TSMC's 6nm : 114MTr/mm2
TSMC's 5nm : 173MTr/mm2
Samsung's 10nm : 51MTr/mm2
Samsung's 8nm : 62MTr/mm2 far closer to 10nm than 7nm (marketing because they were late compare to TSMC)
Samsung's 7nm : 95MTr/mm2
Samsung's 5nm : 127MTr/mm2...only 11% better density than TSMC's 6nm when TSMS's 5nm is 36% better than Samsung's.
The higher density, the better efficiency.
As Apple used 100% of TSMC's 5nm in Q4 2020 and will use 80% in Q1 2021, Qualcomm chose this fake 5nm and Mediatek chose TSMC's 6nm
Beware with naming, it's more marketing than physical reality...
