Swordman, 14 Jan 2021Let's be honest, the S21 and S21+ are crap, for the pr... more🎯🎯🎯

Let's be honest, the S21 and S21+ are crap, for the pricing and what they are offering.

    1. They are using the same 64MP 1.1x optical zoom from the S20/+, even S20 FE is using a 3x optical zoom. Also the selfie cameras are the same as last year's. No idea what Samsung is doing.

    2. The displays. Why can't Samsung provide a QHD display for S21/+ ? They did that with S20/+, heck even Xiaomi managed to do it on the Mi 11 which btw costs ard the same or lesser.

    3. Why did Samsung think it's a good idea to put a plastic back on a $800+ phone lmao, they did it with the Note 20 and no one liked it at all. Kinda hard to justify that when there's $300+ phones with glass backs.

    4. Why is the S21's battery capacity the same as last year's 4000mah? Kinda obvious it's not a size issue since S21+ has the same size as S20+ and the battery capacity increased by 300mah.

    5. Also why couldn't they do what Xiaomi did? Offer a charger for free. Nvm, I forgot it's a cash grab, nth environment related.

On the plus side this thing no longer has curved display. I still hope for phone manufacturers to create phones with perfectly flat screens so that I get less reflections near borders.

On the minus side there's no compact phone on the market with Android. I cannot stand iOS but I'd like to have phone that is sized iPhone 12 Mini at max. I'm currently using Sony XZ2 Compact which is a loosing choice because Sony probably has dropped software support already (hard to tell for sure because Sony doesn't say this kind of things... you just keep waiting for security updates and once they're no longer appearing, the device is out of support).

After XZ2 Compact, there hasn't been *any* Android phone that's not awfully slow or huge. And my bank has insane rule that prevents the banking app from working if I install LineageOS on my phone. It's my phone and it's my money, how about I decide if I want to keep running official OS without security updates?

notafanboy, 14 Jan 2021QHD on a phone = gimmick. Change my mind.On phones, the Oled displays make use of sub-pixel rendering where each pixel does not have it's own RGB but has to use it's neighbors, and therefore it appears less sharp/more pixelated.

The second reason is that you look much closer at your phone than your tablet or laptop, hence why QHD is not a gimmick.

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2021Cut the cr*p I pay €50 more give me QHD screen, SD card slo... moreWhen you take into account what Samsung has taken away, most notably the QHD screen, they should have cut the price by more than $50.

I am switching to Xiaomi or Oppo who have QHD screens.
The reason 1080p is not enough especially on Oled is because of sub pixel rendering, so it's not a true RGB 1080p display and doesn't appear as sharp

Think about it, if someone buys it and they didn't have a USB C charger to hand how do they charge the device? Pretty sure if enough users go down this route it would not be as easy to dismiss as Samsung thinks.

AnonD-973296, 14 Jan 2021do we need it tho?On a $800+ phone? Yes, otherwise might as well get an iPhone 12 or a Mi 11, those costs ard the same or lesser and they give a better hardware build.

No Micro-SD expandable storage option means it's a no go for me. Pretty sure recording 4K video at 60 FPS will eat into your storage pretty darn quick.

If you imagine some top models from other brands lack more than 3x zoom or 8K, its not so bad for non ultras. Certainly it may be worthy if you consider also battery like and performance, in EU it was even more bad on s20/+ with exynos.

So it is useful. Headphone jack is for people stuck in the past with their wired headphones. Useful in some cases. But QHD? How exactly is it useful? What does it bring to the table on a tiny phone display? NOTHING!

Other phones could already change refresh rate according to what screen is showing. All failed to preserve battery. These ones will as well, just like Note 20 Ultra.

Price is not a WIN WIN. 21/21+ are worse than 20/20+.
                                        Charger is $35 in USA.

Screen has less pixels than midrages 21:9 screens used by motorola and sony.
