Note 20 Ultra, 15 Jan 2021Same old design as in mid 2000 but make it look like a new... moreLooks like this design is still very popular, then. Even the big Chinese manufacturers (Huawei, Xiaomi, etc.) are copying Apple Macbooks even in 2020/2021... :D

As I know HP\Lenovo does not list linux as supported for years. So your request sounds like I bought a petrol car, but I want to use diesel instead.
But even there You always can run non-common OS using virtualizations. Or even You can use USB Wi-Fi as extension or even solder one inside using free USB on mainboard.

It has to be specifically approved by laptop vendor, otherwise it won't even work. Which is so stupid. I wanted to use Linux on my HP laptop, but has Realtek WLAN which is pain in the a** to get working drivers for. Wanted to stick in Intel AX200 WLAN. Just to learn it probably won't even work because of blacklisting on firmware level.

They must really miss the extra revenue from charging people £40 a pop to replace their melty proprietary chargers once a year.

Yes, core duo is slow for today, but it still perfect for basic tasks )) Just show me 2007 MacBook with latest OS operational, not museum exhibit))

Anonymous, 15 Jan 2021but the thing is if you buy an macbook, you can have it for... moreNo, it didn`t! Just in case - modern (starting from 2016) apple laptops are not upgradable and are not 3rd party repairable. You cannot just simply change battery, keyboard, add RAM or switch to larger SSD, replace LCD flex or even install new LCD.
And new M1 will also kill any mainboard repairs too.
So if you`re talking about 10+ year operational cycle: this is about HP EliteBook, IBM\Lenovo ThinkPad. But not about apple)) Apple is about to charge Your wallet regularly ;)
