Have you goys noticed how many comments this story is getting, more than the iPhone 5 story, speaks volumes on just how popular Sammy is getting. Samsung is stirring emotion, best free marketing ever, apple has dragged Sammy into headlines giving them so much public awareness, 1 billion is very cheap for all this free advertising, way to go Sammy.

Apple patented the rectangular shape with rounded corners as an INNOVATION?

      Seriously ...

If MS have patented the touch screen, where would Apple start to develop multi touch?

iSJ5, 04 Sep 2012my point is the juror is fair and truth with evidence!Sorry to say that the jurors weren't fair and did not have a clue on the designs. Majority just wanted to go home. Umm..still I was wondering where is the proof and evidence? I think you've put yourself on the spot now. We all would like some proof about what you said or is it just your opinion.

iSJ5, 04 Sep 2012my point is the juror is fair and truth with evidence! How can you say the jurors verdict was fair? The jury found sansung guilty on some counts, then decided that they must guilty on ALL counts and started reeling off numerical values in compensation. It later turned out that they found samsung "guilty" on some products that did NOT infringe on apples so called patents.
Samsung said that many of the patents were prior art, the judge asked the jury to consider this, and it turns out that they did not understand what prior art is, so they just dismissed it!
This whole case has got egg on its face, how can any jury decision be upheld when these facts are taken into account.
My own personal view is that the hearing has been moved from 20th september back to 6th december, in order to give the judge time to try and sort out this mess and maybe, just maybe restore some credibility to the US legal system, although I'm not holding my breath!

[deleted post]Well IF they were playing games they were not taking in what was happening and THAT wouldn't be clever now would it.

Imagine it this way, imagine you're on trial for something and the court ruled against you, yet the jury were constantly playing games while your evidence was being given. Would you feel that was fair?

Satan Deceiving humanity with an apple is good. but here that example does not work here. Apple has not deceived anybody. i agree the fact that everything is copied from everybody, if some one raises the alarm, "yeh its my innovation then he has to be paid" apple has paid to lot of innovators for using/expanding their ideas. whole world knows that apple had taken the technology to the next level which other couldn't do it in spite of being that field for ages. Apple before filing a case they asked Samsung to stop coping 100%/ pay for it. in fact Samsung said we wont pay anything and left apple with no choice rather than approaching the jury. I am sure the jury is more intelligent then all of us and their decision must be right. all these people who are commenting against apple is for no use. Find out the jury members and talk to them in blog or something and get your answers.

In some other countries Apple did manage to get initial temporary injunctions out against Samsung penind formal hearings (court). In the end when the cases were heard Apple won 2 against Samsung and lost 5. And 1 of the 2 they initially one was later overturned.
