New Sony Xperia Compact is on its way, first renders leak

The phone might arrive as a direct competitor to the iPhone 12 mini, but sources from Japan say otherwise.

Because if you did you will immediately saw the differences. Just compare a 200EUR Xiaomi phone with a 300-400EUR one. The same Samsung phones (models like A20e, A41 even A51 are very bad compared to the more expensive models; and I am not talking S series here).
Like I said, there are few exceptions. I found the Realme 6 (180EUR) for example quite good. But still, if you compare it with a Realme X3 Super Zoom (300EUR) for example, you can see the difference in usage.
Maybe people are willing to make compromises because they pay a cheap price for it. But for me, low-end Android phones are useless. And knowing Sony price chart, this phone will certainly cost more than the competition, because why not is Sony brand.

    That kind of battery size is impossible to cram into such a tiny housing, unless you want to get rid of stuff on board such as camera, sensors, GPS and other stuff. Dimensity 1000 or any other flagship SoC is an overkill for such tiny phone because it doesn't have enough hardware to justify all the features that SoC can do. Apple has learned Samsung's lesson who has learned Sony's lesson the hard way that flagship compacts do not sell. Unfortunately.

      I'm a XZ1 Compact, XZ2 Compact, & 5 ii owner. And I really hate this. I just can't find a worse word to describe my hatred.

        As far as smartphones are concerned Sony cannot do anything right. Whatever it does ,goes awry. It has destroyed it's market share inspite of being such a reputed brand. Those who manage it's smartphone business should be removed and fresh brains inductef.Sony should bring out a compact phone powered by Dimensity 1000+,bezelless with 4000mah battery. 5.5 inch superamoled display. Plastic back, aluminium frame. Android 11 ofcourse.

          That's a lowend people could be waiting for. Smaller, powerful, efficient. If the rumor is true, as with Xperia 10 III, we can expect two great phones from Sony.

            Excelent! I just hope it won't be Japanese market only model.

              Just make a. 5.5" s10e with better battery and SOC or upgrade the screen to body ratio of the XZ1c

                This is not Sony logic. They regularly put 3.5mm jack on flagships.

                Anyways, it might be a successor to xperia L4.

                  This has all the hallmarks of a budget phone, we're not going to get a small premium flagship if this render is correct.

                            If it's low end device, is useless. Android low-end models are very laggy, average at best, even in day to day stuff. Maybe few exceptions, but the majority are not good.
                            What is the use in making a good looking device or a compact device, if the moment you start using it is garbage.
                            I hope the SD480 is just a rumour and Sony will use a mid-range chip instead and more importantly, put a good price on it. If they will make it more expensive than the Pixel 4a/4a 5G nobody will buy it, except their loyal fanboys, which are less than 1%.

                              5.5" with those bezels is not compact :(

                                am ok with bezel... but that notch is a hell...
                                be waiting for a notchless, uncompromised xperia compact on 2025... when my xz2 compact starts to die...

                                  don't care about the design as long as it's a true compact flagship!!

                                    this phone will still sell as not everyone needs big phones

                                      I want to see Xperia Compact back but not with that chinful horrible looking design... It is better if it would look more like Xperia 5 II or Pixel 5
