1ii was available in Japan since May, Taiwan and Europe in June.
Sony factories start to assemble the devices after the announcement.
This is why you know nothing so far about 1iii.
Unlike Samsung that usually announces in february or early march, but since november we all know everything about the S series.

Smithravi, 26 Jan 2021Yes. Finally a true usefulness for its 4K cinematic display... moreXperia people are implicating in a very clever way that this is could be as close as it can get to a reference monitor without ever mentioning it being a reference display because it isn't.
Xperia PRO is something like Blackmagic would come up with actually. It's your phone doing phone stuff but when you need it in the field it can help you out.

Remember Sony is still the only company to have 4K HDR BT 2020 display with professionally calibrated pre-sets.

HDMI lets you record 4K 60fps HDR and instantly broadcast it using its 4 5G antennas. YOU CAN'T DO this using a USB C on any smartphone.
Until now Professionals used external mini Monitor which costs 2.7K dollars and other accessories for broadcasting. Now this Xperia Pro replaces those things.

Real MrMobile, 26 Jan 2021Uh, you do realize the 1 II doesn't have a micro-HDMI ... moreWhat? Xperia 1 II does not have the ability to control a camera? Sorry, but that's nonsense. With an app and USB-C each phone can easily control a camera. No need to make a special one, but that would not be "Sony" enough.

34SciencePigeon, 26 Jan 2021(+/-200 USD) Almost an iPhone 12 Pro Max next to a Galaxy S... moreWell, you seem to ignore the target market for this phone (or more rightfully, "communication device") that's absolutely niche, Sony never meant marketing this phone to the person who uses a mainstream smartphone(s). Sure, price is beyond the universe and I acknowledged that deeply, but, considering professional equipment was never cheap, well, the price $2500 Xperia Pro and its new distant sibling, $6500 Alpha 1 (A1), is barely a surprise...
.
At least Sony didn't remove the MicroSDXC slot despite having 512 GB UFS 3.X Storage and 3.5mm headphone jack, despite enormous choices in Sony wireless headphones/earphones in this phone, unlike the phones you mentioned there LOL
